Keir Starmer saying he doesn’t think it’s “appropriate” for kneecap to be playing Glastonbury after Mo Chara’s been in court

Does this change anything? (other than giving them a bigger crowd)

I can’t see them being dropped, but I wonder if it’s likely that any of their set will be broadcast…

At worst it’s just on iPlayer. It’ll be a judgement call on it being shown during the main broadcast. Don’t see them back down if they aren’t dropping them. You’ll cause a bigger sh*t storm by pulling them at this stage.

if Glasto dropped every act which went to court then the fest would be empty stages

I think the response Sprints sent to the M**l when they asked if they’d share a bill with them shows what an easy answer it is for the fest (though I’d like to think they’d reject this bullshit anyway) - if they pulled the set they’d lose half the bill. Off the top of my head Self Esteem and Pulp put their name to the solidarity post, so it’s not just acts low down we’re talking about either.

It's a funny old world, isn't it?

Slowthai had an allegation of rape made against him (which turned out to be false) = cancelled across the board.

Kneecap - "Only good Tory is a dead Tory" and "Up Hamas, up Hezbollah", two groups that focus on the total destruction of Israel and hate and support raping and killing Jews = AHHH YE, IT'S JUST MORE HYPE FOR THE LADS, WICKED!!!

What a f**king let down of a PM Starmer is turning out to be. I don’t think he’ll be invited to give a talk at the festival anytime soon.

Ok...well...one was you know...committing rape even if was just an allegation...the other is saying stuff which yes could be seen as incendiary but also it's their thing. There would be a much bigger backlash for the festival to deal with if they were cancelled than them playing...especially how things have played out in Gaza over the last few months.

Anyway, I expect turnout will be really low after Starmer's response HAHA...so there will be plenty of room to go Saturday afternoon and chant Free Free Palestine and Free Free Mo Chara, and then head off for more entertainment and partying whilst the middle east explodes.

He was always going to say that if asked. He's trying to appeal to Reform voters and middle england mail/sun readers as much as possible.

It’s almost like there is a massive decrease in sympathy for Israel. Who knew that spending over a year systematically destroying a city, killing tens of thousands of innocent civilians and children, deliberately and maliciously displacing and starving millions of people isn’t a real great PR move.

He’s an absolute disgrace. A pathetic person who should be heading to The Hague along with a bunch of others.

You can probably find an act who are calling for the continuing genocide of the Palestinian people if you want balance.

    • Really well done, Primavera. Maybe the biggest name on the lineup as a surprise. (Ecpecially if Robert joins this)
    • There's one way it can get bigger- if Robert Smith joins her on stage
