Mo Charah's court date has gone well enough.  As expected crowds turned out to support again, this time the police invoking public order act, plainly in the hope of another day of rounding up people to charge them with the crime of voicing support for those naughty pro-Palestine types. As ever the band have just played it with intelligence and wit, a quote from the BBC: 

 

In a social media post, the band said the "police action is designed to try to portray support for Kneecap as somehow troublesome".

It thanked supporters and urged them to comply "with all instructions issued, irrespective of how pitiful".

Heard Dua lipas manager on a podcast a few years ago (can't remember which one) and I'm sure he was a music lawyer guy turned manager who sounded very pleased with himself. Can't say he hasn't steered her career very nicely to date though, though of course she has had the star power at every turn.

Something to do with a time limit within which Dir of Public Prosecutions and Attourney General consent must be sought before charging someone. That consent was granted the day after the police infomed of a terror charge meaning it fell outside the 6 month timeframe. The prosecution claimed that consent wasn't required until the first court appearance and not in advance of a criminal charge. But that was incorrect (beggars belief they a) didn't know that or b) correct their error to avoid it getting this far). 

 

Hasten to add I may have that wrong, just what have read on the news outlets online.

Technicality is the wrong word for it.  It implies they would have been guilty were it not for something that wasn't done right.
