I’d say so. They’re on in Shangri-La as well, that could be mayhem. Move them on to the Other and that should ease the pressure on both sets a bit.

Yeah it's the curiosity element that'll make it even busier than it would've been too, loads of people will have heard about them for the first time with all the news coverage. There are only two stages that can accommodate that

From the BBC article “ Police Scotland said last week that allowing the trio to perform at Glasgow Green on 11 July would require "a significant policing operation".“

BBC article

That ‘agenda’ line is just silly. Not everybody who disagrees with you or presents a reality that negates your position has an “agenda”. Refusing to listen to them because you don’t like what they’re saying is foolish and irrational.

It’s even more silly that after 20 months of a genocide supported by our government that you think some people don’t have a different agenda.

Why did this significant police operation only manifest itself now and not at the original booking?

Why are significant police operations fine for orange marches?

Not everybody does. Sometimes in life stuff happens that you don’t agree with. That doesn’t mean the other person has ‘an agenda’ it just means the real world has got in the way of a simplistic absolutist viewpoint.

The massive increase in publicity and stature band have inevitably got as a result of politicians complicating about them.

Different situation. I don’t like them either but that’s different to policing a festival crowd.

Yes, unfortunately both sides of the sectarian divide up here have in recent years attracted large organised ultra groups who pathetically dress like paramilitaries but are mainly gullible youngsters led by others who are politically motivated. The thought of these groups clashing at a festival is what the police are concerned about. Public safety has to be paramount. Easy to control these groups as they ‘March’ to a football game but not in an open festival field.

Glastonbury is totally different, no sectarian elements, overwhelming majority in the crowd sympathetic to the cause of the Palestinians and plenty of alternatives if you don’t want to see them.

Exactly this. It’s a unique combination of a politically motivated band having reached such levels of notoriety, along with the situation in Glasgow itself. Won’t affect Glastonbury at all.

'Both sides' doing a lot of heavy lifting here....

Well we got there in the end and you agree that this was a political decision.

The conflict in Gaza, the genocide and its repercussions can’t be dismissed as “stuff happens”.

To say it’s a different situation is frankly laughable.

Sounds a bit like an orange parade with orange bands. So not unique at all in Scotland.

Yes, unfortunately these parades are not unique up here. My son has friends in the police and they are routinely drafted into G division(Glasgow) to police both orange and Republican parades. But they find them quite easy to deal with, simple enough with a bit of planning to keep the parades and the inevitable counter demos apart. Transmt is different, crowds mixing, football ultra groups,  alcohol and drugs makes getting to a trouble spot very difficult. T in the park had to stop because of the aggro, Transmt won’t want to go the same way.  I’m sure Glastonbury with be a great show  for them as will the Glasgow gigs.

I see Thom Yorke still just does not get it.

I think he gets it completely and said exactly what I tried several times over the last 54 pages, but I was not eloquent enough.

On the other hand I still think his tantrum on stage was an overreaction and super strange

it's so disappointing.  At least Ed has his head on straight.

Real bummer about Nick Cave too.

As ghastly as it is, it's not quite as bad as Nick Cave saying that he'd always support Israel because that's where the Bible happened, which is one of the worst arguments ever mounted by either side in the 50 odd years of this conflict.

Ultimately is it possible to be a Zionist and to love Israel, but support a ceasefire in Gaza and the end of settlements and a two state solution and strongly oppose Netanyahu's government ....and still be cool?

No-one cool writes an 8 page statement on this topic and makes 6 pages of it self-pity.

lol I'd expect it from an American but it's extra cringe coming from him.

    • Totally agree about PinkPantheress stage choice. 'Luckily' for me, one of my main targets, fakemink, was absolutely awful, meaning that I left early and was in a surprisingly good spot at Cupra before it got totally packed.
    • As many said before, not my favourite Primavera. sh*tty weather is something I'm not really used to when enjoying music. Poor communication (more than 1 hour long radio silence during the worst rain) didn't help, but the main problem was me. I decided to leave the venue after things seemed to be getting back to normal. Massive Attack were supposed to play again (with Hymn of the Big Wheel back on the setlist!) as were all other artists on the smaller stages (including Fcukers with one my favourite albums of the year). FOMO was at an all-time high. However, after 4 hours in the rain, I had to admit to myself that I'm not cut out for this. I wasn't even that soaked (water-proof jacket worked). I was just fed up with the rain, wind and cold and wasn't able to enjoy music anymore.   Also, they should stop ignoring the growth of some artists between signing them up and their actual performance. Both PinkPantheress and Ninajirachi sets were ruined for me by completely inadequate stage choice.   However, I felt very much the same way after the 2022 edition and have thoroughly enjoyed all subsequent editions. So I'm still buying early bird tickets for 2027 and hoping this was a hiccup not the start of a downward trend.
    • I will definitely be buying a 2027 early bird pass, partially because of the priority reservation privileges for the Ciutat sets. Hopefully the organization will take action to improve upon this year's failings. Because I thought the free water options and sound quality were an improvement over last year, so clearly they can actually implement positive changes.   I also hope all the douchebag chompers get in the sea, cause I was more bothered by them than in the past few years.   Highlights: The Cure, Ninajirachi, Knocked Loose, Current 93, Blood Orange.
    • Similar feelings to a few others on here. Not my personal favourite edition but a long way from giving up on it. Felt overcrowded at times and there are just too many people there that don't seem to like music that much! Hardly went to main stages which was the plan. Highlights Ralphie Choo, rusowsky, Gorillaz, Geese, Gelli Haha, The Sophs, PinkPantheress, Dijon. Accommodation booked for next year. Thanks for your company and comments over the past year.
