Kneecap

Jeez..this Kneecap band.

So...yes there's problems with the creation of an ethno-state...but at the time there was a whole load of guilt about what had happened to Jews in Europe and elsewhere, and the idea that they needed a state, a safe place, somewhere where they would not be a minority...and there was this zionism movement already happened and Jews settling in Palestine and the Balfour agreenemt thing 40 years earlier, so UN with support from both the west and east (we abstained) partitioned Palestine into Arab land and Jewish land...something the Jews wanted but the Arabs really didn't. That was ultimately the big error. They should have either made sure both sides agreed and stayed around to make it work, or just had one state and hoped both peoples didn't wipe each other out.

But also...there's a whole bunch of countries with crosses or star and crescent in their flags with majority christian or muslim peoples who don't have to worry about being called an ethno-state. India was literally partitioned roughly along ethnic lines into Pakistan and India the year before the partition of India.

and also again...if we're going to say Israel should not exist because of how it came about was the ethnic cleansing of a whole load of people living there...we going to start saying the same for all the countries of the Americas or Australia/NZ or god knows where else.

So, constantly saying Israel should not exist will not get anyone anywhere, it will just be the same for people saying Palesine should not exist, or even Hamas should be wiped out. They are maximalist and extremist things that just drive the situation to worse and worse places. So yeah I'm a centrist c**t, and yes I am not against Israel existing, but I support the end of fighting and a ceasefire and a two state solution, although at moment that looks almost impossible...extremists have taken over in Israel and the only person who could actually do something is Donald Trump.

Seriously? That's such a non-argument. It's like you don't have any valid points and all you can do is scream about "antisemitism".

f**k Israel.

It’s a millennia old religious war over a patch of sand.
The muzzies (and everyone else) had those meanie joo’s licked a few times, chased them right into the desert multiple times.

But recently, one lot went backwards & the other has nukes & stealth jets.

It’s swings & round abouts. Personally, I don’t loose any sleep over it.

You have been programmed to care, they want you sad and disconnected from the real world around you.

'If you're not calling it a genocide then what the f**k are you calling it? '

Back on the topic of the thread though...

History books written about the middle east will have chapters on how they tried to stop Kneecap playing at Glastonbury...so they could say f**k Israel. and iplayer bleeping it out.

And this is how centrists end up voting for fascists.

🤣

Whole chapters! On Kneecap!!!

History books written about Kneecap might have whole chapters on how they tried to stop Kneecap playing at Glastonbury. Serious analysts of the Middle East will either disregard the whole "controversy" or be entirely unaware of it.

It's worked on you if you think this genocide has anything to do with religion

I’m not programmed and I can recognise when I am. I don’t have a dog in this fight. Just apathy.

They wouldn’t be doing it if the other lot didn’t have foreskins.

As per my earlier point, it’s a millennia old religious war. For most of this time, the joo’s were licked. But they advanced & the other look stood still.

If they had stealth jets & nukes it would be a fair fight, but they don’t. Swings & roundabouts.

What are you on about? Not sure I have read anything on here where anybody remotely supports Netanyahu.

You see... You are allowed to call for the destruction of all of Israel..and they say you are not antisemitic..but you can't say you are anti Hamas .and not be pro genocide.

Simple

Of course it belongs to them. Most of the Middle East was carved up and reallocated in the 20th century. As I asked before, is there something about the one with all the Jews in that irks you more than the others?

This has to be one of the most ludicrous posts on this threat. So a bunch of white men living elsewhere decided to carve up some land to create an ethnostate that immediately removes the rights of the indigenous population? Hokum.

Israel should not exist in its current form. In the same way S Africa couldn’t exist in its previous form. They are/were apartheid states. Anyone supporting or giving the 2 state solution as an answer is just supporting the continuation of apartheid in Israel.

See when I was young that was exclusively the language of the National Front here and the Klan in the US. It’s a strange journey the sentiment has taken. ‘How Mumbo Jumbo conquered the World’ by Francis Wheen tries to explain the role the Islamic Revolution in Iran played in shifting the left’s position and I think it does it quite well, but the assassinations of Sadat and especially Rabin, two politicians killed by extremists on their own side opposed to peaceful compromise, were just as important. And the burning of Israeli flags alongside those of the Stars and Stripes in Gaza, the West Bank, Beirut and Tehran after 911 helped to cement an anti Israel sentiment in anti American left wing propoganda which then culminated in young progressives switching from support for the secular, socialist nation to the theocratic misogynist and authoritarian one (Iran) and its satellite organisations hell bent on the defeat and annihilation of Jews.
Some of us didn’t fall for it though.

Apathy about kids deliberately being blown up? Bizarre.

Cool story but what about the deliberate murder of 1000s of children using weapons supplied by the uk that you appear to be making excuses for.

If you dont understand the relevance of the Sadat assassination to Francis Wheen then I'm afraid there's no helping you.

Your appeal to authority is genuinely to Francis Wheen?

He’s not ann’authority’. He’s a good journalist though and HMJCTW is an excellent insight into the shift in geopolitical sentiments caused by (amongst other things) the Iranian Islamic Revolution. The fact that Sadat was assassinated shortly afterwards and that the Oslo agreement failed were down to Iran shaping the agenda and the shift in sentiments of progressives away from Israel absolutely contributed to Rabin being killed. These things could have been different if the world hadn’t been so anti US (specifically anti Reagan, sort of understandably) and peaceful compromise had been found.
And no I don’t support kids being killed.
