  1. Yeah, I didn’t see anyone else get searched either. It was a pointless exercise, they took a few bits out the top of her bag then put them back in again, before sending her on her way. Still a shitty start to the fest, because it was so blatant - we literally joked about it while we were in the queue and then it actually happened. Sadly she is used to it as she does a lot of travelling for her job, but it still really sucks, particularly from somewhere that claims to be (and in most ways is) so enlightened. I know security are contracted by the festival rather than it being some kind of command from management but based on this thread it’s clearly not an isolated incident and needs to be rooted out.
  2. My mixed race friend who came for the first time was plucked out of the sea of white faces to have her bag searched on entry 🙄
  3. Shout out to Charlotte Adigery + Bolis Pupul’s wonderful, if underattended (clashed with Diana) Lonely Hearts Club set yesterday as well.
  4. Bob Vylan (although a shame it ended up such a short set) and Warmduscher absolutely tore the roof off the Truth Stage on Saturday night. The latter was one of the loudest, wildest things I’ve ever seen. Giant Swan were quality on Wow on Thursday too.
  5. Now, they say this if anyone asks, and I understand why, but honestly I think if you rocked up at the box office on site having missed the coach and got there by other means and explained the situation then they'd get you in.
  6. Don’t they only do this when the act self-confirms, like Billie (and McCartney last time)?
  7. I’m pretty sure it did but they just gave some ‘special permission at the request of the band’ or suchlike for them to play G?
  8. audiobooks and Lynks are both bonkers live, seen them both before but excited to go again! Overall I’m a little underwhelmed, but as ever have no doubt that I’ll get into plenty of the undercard. I do like 3 out of the 4 headliners (hopefully something good will be on opposite Fleet Foxes…) but there isn’t one I’m particularly hyped for, unlike, say, Misty in 2017. Think I’ve just been a bit unlucky with who has ended up being rebooked after the 2020/21 pullouts (eg no sign of Tune-Yards).
  9. For a start they could bring back furlough, which would allow businesses to only have the amount of people working that they need for the reduced custom.

    Taylor Swift

Rules out Kendrick for Roskilde as well 😞
  11. I mean, I agree it would’ve been nice, I like to plan for the exact reason you set out (and usually print a clashfinder too, although this year for the first time I’m taking my proper phone so can just use that). It’s not really that big of a deal, though, particularly as the times announced by the acts so far have tied in exactly with 2019.
  12. Well yeah, but that’s only really useful if they come out a week minimum before the fest. Doesn’t really make any difference if they come out today or tomorrow.
  13. Well Stereolab are obviously top purely because they only have competition from the Tipi acts. Obviously not representative but is another thing to suggest the interest isn’t really there for King Krule, could see the site being quite empty by the time he plays as people go home early tbh.
  14. That Sunday is absolutely stacked, I think about 80% of the acts I’m most excited for are playing then! While it’s nice to have stuff to look forward to towards the end of the fest, gonna be a clash nightmare. That being said, wasn’t fussed about King Krule so Richard Dawson on Garden is ideal. Might not see any Woods headliners! All feels real now, very excited.
  15. Unbelievable amount of people moaning on Twitter about the lost acts. Must have been a rolling nightmare for the organisers, cut them some slack guys, jeez. Stick your ticket on Twickets if you’re really that unhappy.
  16. I’m pretty sure the reported effectiveness of AZ against the delta variant is 90%+.
  17. Oh I agree that we should be opening up. Just stop talking bollocks like lockdown is what is causing problems, rather than another problem being caused by the virus.
  18. Dealing with Covid instead of the backlog increases the backlog, not lockdown.
  19. Final returned tickets go on sale on 27 July.
  20. I’m considered to be clinically vulnerable as I’m on immunosuppressant medication for Crohn’s disease. I can’t wait to get back to clubbing and festivals and I have two booked for next week. I’m double jabbed so (broadly) as safe as I’ll ever be.
  21. I mean, I probably would have said ‘somewhat worried’ in answer to that question, because there remains a chance it could all go tits up. But that doesn’t mean I don’t think it should happen, or that I won’t be taking advantage of the ability to go to clubs and festivals myself.
  22. If Standon Calling manages to go ahead without being a test event, I’m not sure why any later festivals would bother participating? After what’s been said this weekend there’s no way Javid is rolling things back within 2 months of 19 July.
  23. I love this kind of shit. I actually read another of his books (New York 2140) which I enjoyed for all the futurology stuff but wasn’t particularly taken by the story itself, so haven’t looked at the rest of his work - same deal with this one, or should I pick it up? (Apologies for going very off topic)
  24. The Cure were absolutely magnificent. Stunned that their 2019 set is being mentioned in this thread. I’m a massive Radiohead fan, I was right at the front in 2017 and it was my favourite gig of all time (and I can’t really imagine it ever being topped to be honest). However I can totally understand people not enjoying it if they were further back (terrible decision with the screens) and that run at the start with Myxomatosis etc probably wasn’t the best for a festival gig. Robert Smith and co though - I like them a lot, although hardly a superfan, and I adored the whole thing from just behind the second barrier. Really don’t know what else they could have done!
  25. I wonder if Boardmasters are at the point where it doesn’t really matter whether they cancel now or cancel the day before the gates open, they’re stuffed either way. After cancelling 2019 due to the weather as well as obviously 2020, this year happening must be pretty crucial.
