Just got the i-ching out, the oracle still says Lady Gaga.

Firmly in the Gaga camp. It's been years in the making and she's got the hits / personality to kill it. People obviously thought her trajectory was on the downward after Joanne but that's clearly just not the case. She's a bonafide headliner if ever there was on.

Quick show of hands... Who believes the Macca Out rumour?

I do not.

Nope.

I think he will be headlining, but even if he isn't, I think it's more likely that he wasn't booked in the first place, rather than was in and then cancelled.

we've had these "my mate works in the music biz and says XYZ" tales countless times before and they're usually full of shit.

30 odd posts and you've figured it out. The force is strong with this one.

It isn't that hard to pick up :D

Two eFest rules:
1. Nobody knows anything, except for the people who know things, but they never really know, nobody knows, so who knows, you know?
2. Don't share your opinion on some band unless you're ready to defend it against 10 other people.

I'm a big Beatles and Macca fan, but I can't stand Hey Jude. Especially since I've heard a lot of endless crappy panflute versions.

I'm not a massive Beatles fan really, but I do really want to see McCartney at Glastonbury. However, the world's love for Hey Jude is something I've always been confused about. Its never worked for me.

Doesn't matter, it's still some feat like them or not. I work at an airport and, as it happens, met U2 when they got off the plane from Baltimore. They'd flown here as soon as the show had finished and they looked completely knackered. Just over 24 hours later they'd be onstage at Glastonbury, and soon after that back on their 767 to continue their US tour. Macca obviously won't be doing that (if he is doing Glastonbury) but he'll still have jet lag to contend with, unlike The Cure.

Remember though that U2 only happened due to cancellation the previous year. The band can't not have any future plans because of other things happening.

The plan on the cards had been the same though for previous year 2010 as for 2011 - flying over immediately from a US gig. I think it was Michigan or Minnesota in 2010 that were on the calendar a few days before Glastonbury on the Friday. Willie Nelson, Snoop, Vampire Weekend into U2 that hot sunny day would have been nice.

The lyrics are literally naa na na na, that’s why people like it.

if he closes out Sunday, it will be our 3rd 'na, na, na' sing-along of the weekend after Liam does 'Little James' on the Friday before Stormzy, and then the High Flying Birds cheekily pull out 'All Around The World' as their closer in their Sunday pyramid sub spot which Noel G prefaces by repeating his "We're off...Enjoy Paul McCartney" line he used the last time he was on the Pyramid

Sounds horrendous.

Kaiser Chiefs to play before Noel and sign off their little known classic “Nanna Nanna Na” (that’s a real song folks).

Of course Kylie before them with Can’t Get You Out Of My Head and all the “na na nas” that song entails...

    • Yeah so many of mine seem to be just France v Spain in one semi and England/Brazil v Argentina in the other. But the fact those combos are the obvious ones mean it feels unlikely that'll happen because in World Cup history, you very rarely end up with what pre-tournament looks like the obvious final 4. We all see teams outperform and underperform. Which one is the fall guy is a different matter.   I've said elsewhere that for me, there's a hierarchy of Spain, France and Argentina as the 3 strongest looking, then England and Portugal, then Brazil and Germany, but that overall, they'd be the 7 likeliest to win. So I dunno, maybe this will be the time the Netherlands avenge the failure of total football in 1974 and achieve what they couldn't achieve through whatever the f**k Nigel de Jong was with his 2010 final karate moves.
    • Oh I think Infantino should resign. His handling of the whole WC process has been an utter shitshow. But you know. That would require him having integrity or something.
    • Good Charlotte would be fine third down or subbing. If they can get a bigger sub and still get GC, they’ll play third down.

    • Nope, Sum 41 had already headlined second stage along with Rob Zombie and Slayer in 2017....are we saying that Rob and Slayer would be 4th down the Pyramid. The KSE are always predicted 3rd down, Skindred are given 3rd down and we think 7 years after a second stage headline with that genre very 'IN' they wouldn't get 3rd down.  Sum 41 did a last ever UK did that had Wembley Arena and not The 02 and it wasn't anywhere near the prices Good Charlotte is costing. Every act is going to do well on a final tour, GC have only just come back and in my opinion a shocking day of music overall for the return choice.    On Slam Dunk, firstly Sum 41 headlined in 2022 when festivals returned from the covid time out, every festival going sold out and some very quickly! Secondly, Slam Dunk in 2022 was not £150 for a day ticket. Also thirdly, Slam Dunk 2022 was a great lineup, this years was pants! I met two guys at RIP who said to me they think 2025 was more fitting for the anniversary lineup and they couldn't be more correct, in the very top lineups they've ever put out. Its not as plain and simple as you've put.
