2021 Headliners

Been a while since we've had a runners and riders for 2021 so let's have a look at the current state of play:

Taylor Swift: One of last year's three, big question marks over whether she'll be back next year, currently not optimistic.

Kendrick Lamar: See above.

Paul McCartney: The final from last year's three, has hinted that he might be back.

Arctic Monkeys: Rumours that they will be touring next year. Would be an easy, uncontroversial booking should the fest fail to get any of the above.

The 1975: Available, strong feeling that this is their time.

Reg: Technically free next summer, but seems likely he'll reschedule his cancelled US dates.

Fleetwood Mac: Crowded House's dates make them unlikely for 21.

Madonna: Five million reasons why not.

Billie Eilish: Hottest act in the world right now and about next summer, do GF have the financial clout to land her?

Lady Gaga: Playing the Spurs ground late July, dates put her slightly out unless she's on a bigger tour.

Dua Lipa: Too soon?

George Ezra: It'll happen on the next album, 22 looks more likely.

Guns n Roses: They are over here and have a gap that weekend... still pretty unlikely though.

Red Hot Chilli Peppers: Look, they are a headline sized band and they are in Europe next summer. Be afraid.

Coldplay: "And lo, so sayeth the Book of Michael - every five years mine divine messenger Christopher Martin shalt headline thine Pyramid"

Foals: The Pablo Honey of headliner chat, seems rude not to include them

Reading this makes it sound like you reckon its gonna be Macca, 1975 and RHCP? Not to put words in your mouth or anything I'm just trying to read the likeliness from what you've written as its all pretty agreeable from where I'm sat.

We're still so far out, I'm sticking with this years headliners personally.

If I was betting right now I’d go with Macca, Arctic Monkeys (1975 if they don’t happen) plus one other - probably not a male guitar act. Gaga most likely.

Currently thinking Billie / AM / Macca

Although, I do think Taylor doing a handful of UK shows next June, inc Glastonbury, is on the cards. However that is just a hunch and until we get word on her plans, I’d keep her as unlikely.

I think this is it. With there still being a danger of it being AM / 1975 / Gaga if Macca decides he doesn't fancy it.

I think The 1975, AM and Macca as it looks more likely than a female option being around. It would probably be quite unfair for The 1975 to not make it over say Dua Lipa which is the only female option I see realistically who could do it but even I don't think she should yet....don't think her newer stuff is quite as good as some mind.

Based on nothing more than a gut feel, I really think that barring illness, other unmovable commitments or something completely unforeseen, Macca will be back(a).

Just seems...right.

I’d say the same ... based on nothing more than his daughters comments :) and I’m holding onto a distant hope for Taylor ... number 3 I’ll go with the 1975

I would also put my hunch behind these 3, and although not my first choice or favourites would be relatively happy.
I am still really holding out for Reg and think there could be an outside chance 🤞🤞🤞

It’s an outside chance in that he has nothing booked until September, but it’s more likely that his cancelled US dates will fill up next summer.

Sadly I think this is the case, but I am not going to let common sense and reason get in the way of my blind optimism!

My thoughts are Lady Gaga (or Billie)/Arctic Monkeys/Paul McCartney

    • This is great. Friday and Saturday main are 🔥   If they do end up touring next year I could see a trio of Blink, Deftones & Maiden working quite well.

    • True and given how rapidly it fell apart for Piastri in the final third of last season, we do have precedents for it going wrong.   Although Antonelli did a brilliant effort to eke out Monaco pole yesterday against Verstappen while Russell's down in 6th. I know Russell was unlucky in China and Japan but in the last few weeks, Antonelli is starting to look like he gets the demands of this new spec of car better.
    • I didn't watch all of the England friendly last night but I did see some of it. Still seems like they have a few gears to go through. But then I also felt that for the Uruguay and Japan friendlies a few months ago, so... hmmm...
