It was great for those needing a nap or food & drink break before the Foos

And after a questionable run of songs it was also great for everyone watching. People around us were loving it.

By no means am I saying it was a great set; I've criticised them heavily as it was a huge missed opportunity. But it wasn't embarrassing to any extent as you might think from some of the comments around here. And to that point we get that a lot around here for a lot of sets around here - it gets very boring.

I still dream of their Other headline slot. It will be sublime should it ever happen.

That set wasn't nearly as bad as people on here make out.

Like most of the bad sets we discuss tbf.

I dunno I was looking forward to it and it fell flat for me. It wasn't a complete car crash just really meh and from the bored faces around they weren't winning over many neutrals.

They didn’t help themselves by following up Katy Perry’s hit party with a generous selection of unreleased tracks, to an audience that didn’t seem particularly intimate with their released ones. Me, I enjoyed it!

The National just fell victim to the difficulty of a pyramid sub slot. If they were headlining the other stage I reckon it would have been a totally different story. It’s a shame.

Without a doubt. If they headlined the Other that year it would be held in the same regard as LCD. There's zero question of that.

Seriously, Gorillaz? Are they a bigger deal than they were in 2010? I'd say not ( I may be wrong, I don't follow the charts at all). They only got the call then because U2 cancelled. Or are we just saying them because we know they're active & Damon has a history with the festival?

I hate The 1975 with a passion, but if it's a straight toss up between them & Gorillaz, surely they deserve it more.

Either way, I won't be anywhere near the pyramid on Friday night. I hope someone else can step up to the plate.

I had a fantastic time at Beck, seems like I was in the minority though.

Hard to have a great time when he made it pretty damn clear that even he wasn’t having a great time.

Really looking forward to seeing him at Primavera next year so that I can have see him in a sea of people wanting to be there rather than people who had absolutely no idea who he was other than the guy delaying Coldplay coming on.

I thought Beck was brilliant.

However, there only seemed to be me, my 2 mates & a random couple next to us who were really into it. (From the pit). There only seemed like us 5 were leaving the pit too when he finished. Everyone was piling in.

We mentioned how shit the crowd was. She asked "could he tell?". I said "Yeah, he mentioned about it being like an awkward first date".

Really gutting. It spoilt it a bit for me.

We were also asked by somone "why are you leaving, Coldplay are next"

"Cos coldplay are on next"

The couple went off to see LCD, us 3 went to see Cyndi Lauper. I maintain, we had the best night.

I met Beck at Festival Number 6 whilst dressed as an Oompa Loompa. He was lovely and took a picture with us and asked his assistant to take one too. He absolutely smashed his headline set that evening on top of it. 10/10 would do again.

I’m surprised Beck would dress that way.

    • Would you decide to go once more I recommend to queu up at the ‘official’ freenow taxi line ( 5 min walk from the main gate). It might take 15 min or so but they are not ripping you off. Even at 3 or 4 in the night it costed us about 25eur to the city center.
    • How do you mean? Better as a hotel/ festival combo?   I've done rock am ring at both sites.....unpopular opinion I much preferred the mending site and really didn't like the long and narrow main stage at RaR.
    • Yesterday was another brilliant day of music for me. Some highlights:  My Bloody Valentine - absolutely loved it! Maybe my main festival highlight. I felt submerged in the music with all the layers and distortion. It becomes hypnotic almost as it progresses. Not as loud as some thought it might be, but it didn’t need to be. The visuals added a lot too. During the noise part of You Made me Realise, I was basically in a trance staring at the visual tunnel or whatever it was on screen. Amazing experience. Little Simz - as she mentioned at the start, you’re guaranteed a good time with her. Great performance just like in 2022. Zero complaints. The little DJ section wasn't something I expected but was cool. Kneecap - I had a blast but at this point in the night I was at my most intoxicated let's say, so I don’t remember it as clearly as I'd have liked to!    The xx - The sound for this was perfectly balanced (at least where I was) and the band were great. Lots of talkers, but with the crowd size and being kind of far back, it's to be expected. Intro was one of my favourite moments this year. Big Thief - really good live performers. The lead singer has a lovely voice. This was a nice chill way to kick off the mordor gigs for me.
    • I've been attending Primavera every year since my first one in 2017 & it's always been my favourite week of the year, but I think things have changed.   Firstly, the site just feels too busy in this current set-up. I'm sure it was a lot easier back in 2017-19 to get between the stages & then a good spot for the next one, but now you increasingly have to sacrifice parts of a set or miss them out completely to plan for later on. I wish we still had the Bits area over the bridge to spread everyone out.   But the main issue is the talking, it's always been here but this year it's been relentless & I just can't tolerate it any more. It's at every stage, and everywhere from the front to the back, there is no escape. Not focusing on nationalities, but a major dynamic now seems to be groups of people who are only focusing on their own good time & aren't interested if this affects anyone else. It seems essential that all members of the group are together at the same time, so it's people making telephone calls, people on shoulders waving phone torches, people barging through. It's alright, I'm only trying to watch The Cure here.   I will have a year away to think about it. I thought might give up completely but yesterday was a bit of a classic day after two unenjoyable ones. Adding Olivia Rodrigo to Baxter Dury, Gelli Haha, The XX, Gorillaz & Kneecap shows how good it can be, but as with everything, it's always the people that have the biggest impact.
