The local tramp had claimed the booth as his own.

Long time ago I slept on a bench at Edinburgh station, having missed the train back to Glasgow. Can’t recall which gig it was, possibly Siouxsie & The Banshees, so I guess at least I looked more like a punk in the morning!

We actually tried to get into the hotel where Pete wa staying. We could see him and his entourage having a lock in at the bar (this was post Libertines, pre Babyshambles when he just a fucking mess all the time), but they wouldn't let us in.

Did you go up to him to have a word that maybe those drugs arent such a good idea or offer to take him back to yours to detox?

It definitely is but I've got the excuse the girlfriend and my friend have never seen him with the Sleeping Souls and I've been on about how good it is throughout lockdown. So manchester here we come 😂

Not the Liverpool date? Or even Buckley?

Yeah it's much easier to get a direct train back from Manchester nowadays after gigs (not on wirral anymore - Frodsham way now!). Have to get a taxi from Chester if I want a Liverpool gig now or risk a very short changeover at Warrington or Runcorn

That said I've got no idea what I'll do when I miss the last Manchester train or it gets cancelled!

Spent many a night on station platforms waiting for the first train. A personal favourite was going up and down in a lift all night in Cardiff Central as it was Baltic outside…. Ending up in a house party and getting on a train during rush hour is always fun stinking of booze and fags whilst everyone else is suited and booted

Other than Kasabian, those are some interesting support acts for a Liam Gallagher crowd.

Edit: I know the album release is basically an excuse to tour but I’ve just seen that it comes out at the end of May next year. I’m struggling to think of any other albums announced 8 months in advance.

It’s a pretty great lineup, but unfortunately one that will go largely unappreciated by the swarms of piss throwers that will undoubtedly be the majority of the crowd.

    • sub yes I could see but I don't think they get 1hr 15, a headliner starting at 18:15 though is unlikely. Even the recent co-headlines that have had like 1hr 15 then a 1hr 30 after were on 8pm or just before, you are trailing behind more than 1.5 hours then. In that scenario some 3rd down bands are only starting at 18:15 and some haven't lol. I agree they won't not book them due to this but it won't be 6 headliners. It would be 5 headliners and you wouldn't want to see 5 headliners booked but Biffy were to not be thouhgt of as an option for one. Wolf Alice on the other hand could sub no bother and you'd think nothing of it. I'm not so sure Biffy would get headline though after the festival choice in Kendal this year.
    • Definitely. UKIP also used Merkel welcoming 1 million Afgans to Europe in 2015 during the brexit vote.   Politicians in other countries within the EU know the are going to lose voters to parties to the right of them over stuff like this and they've no control over it.
    • I think it will very much vary on who there is to book who they know will sell out a day.    They’ve co-headline and full headline stuff in future, there no reason at all they won’t do it again, even if it means cutting someone’s set by 15 mins or having a band less in a big bands day…   They’re not going to not book Foo fighters and instead get the equivalent of Florence and C&S just to not have a band do a big set…   …unless of course they think it will make them more money…
    • Maybe some right wing leaders like Meloni are just playing to their base, like Reform have been here talking about them ending up at Calais.
    • Citizenship via investment programs basically work by saying if you invest this much in our economy (say buy a property worth x) then we will either grant you citizenship or residency with a route to it. The EU has rules on how low countries can set the bar. Montenegro was one of the easier ones to get and they've had to tighten it up.
