Greatest of respect neil but we hear you loud and clear … would be pretty dull if we all liked the same stuff wouldn’t it ? Clearly you don’t like GnR but as someone who’s run a festival website for umpteen years you understand this .

i understand that criticism keeps standards high.

You can't pull up offside camping, Glastonbury and 2000 trews are the only Festivals here I know that you can camp in and around and even Trees has altered that a bit.

There's plenty festivals that don't have a full arena setup - Boomtown and Shambala being easy examples. Of the ones that do, not all of them (Bearded, BDs) don't have restrictions going into the Arena so in those cases it's not noticeable.

Sandstorms are rare, you're thinking Bonnaroo here.

And you do get readmission.

The camping is also so close to the arena if you are there early enough that it's barely 2 mins walk to your things. That kinda works with Glastonbury in the way that if you don't get there early you get a worse spot.

I for one wouldn't choose Glastonbury over Coachella but cars setup right next to you, you can't beat.

Anyone else now want a festival where 2000 pairs of tartan trousers feature in some way?

Just me?

It's all a bit tongue-in-cheek, mate. I'd love to make the trip over but the weird "my festival is better than your festival" comparison from Perez Hilton II is getting a bit boring now. Both have positive and negative aspects and can hardly be compared

Out of upvotes ffs

Nobody too interesting here at first glance? Solid lineup but nobody not about already.

What does this even mean though? Who's standards? The only reaction I've seen from other users here so far is either being really tired of hearing it or, a few pages back, even going as far as actively going and listening to them due to the amount of incessant whinging

I would really really really love Duran Duran in the Legends slot

Ditto.  Would be a great fit and they're obviously active in the Summer.  Come on.  (crosses fingers),

The festivals standards, if GnR was without criticism, we're much closer to another booking for kol.

This forum has precisely zero effect on who Emily books as a headliner. Think you're giving yourself quite a bit too much credit there.

Social media backlash for Download this year was worse than ever and it's also apparently the fastest-selling ever. Money talks, online comments don't, and whether we like it or not Glasto would still sell out if GNR topped the pyramid all three nights.

Public opinion certainly has an effect on who gets booked as headliners.

    • Yeah definitely this. Memorable past experiences include seeing Yo La Tengo at Cupra at night in 2022, or Beach House at the now defunct stage I forget the name of, or TV on the Radio at Cupra last year. A 2:30am Slowdive or Water From Your Eyes set would’ve been just the ticket
    • I want to chime in here and say that I think Simple Minds must be one of the more underrated bands of the 80s honestly. Empires & Dance and New Gold Dream are phenomenal albums. And two of my favourites of that decade in any genre.
    • Same, same. I am doing this for few years. Always works. There are some exceptions when the area completelly packed (i.e The XX this year), but even in this case it is much easier to walk from the right side.
    • You don't have to pay for an additional ticket but the front barrier at least is all controlled by security and a lot of people stay in there for the bigger acts so if you don't get there early enough you risk not being in there.   There is an option you can pay to have fast lane access priority which they suggest you arrive 30 minutes before a headline show but the first two sections are still even for them based on capacity. I did read that it's going very corporate and becoming too money money which I agree to an extent. There are points on the two biggest stages where not only accessing these bits is priority but dedicated quicker and direct access points for them too....but at €225 for the weekend I'm not sure I want to be pulled into that. I went with Three Days Grace, Linkin Park and Maiden being my must sees so I did what I had to for the latter 2 to get in to where I needed to. You do that too much though and it'll cost you your overall enjoyment of other bands there.   As an overall experience, it's definitely overrated to what I thought it would be. I will vouch for the food being decent.    The reason I haven't just gone in a bought too is because of the extra shipping fee and then selling it on if I didnt go. By QR code its easy to transfer like, but its a lot of money to commit that it might need selling later and to sell a ticket, £300 in fact. Hopefully they won't be the only festival to get Foos while not confirmed yet and Blink. But the Blink pulling power alone is there to be seen.
