Don’t worry. I’m gonna take the clutch even further.

debate with me I invite it. I doubt Stormzy was their first choice. Someone was in talks and it fell through. Hence the fact Stormzy got the slot and not someone else.

why do I think this? Because Stormzy could easily have subbed. It wasn’t a position where they would only get him headline or nothing. He’s got the slot because there was no one else available for it (in my mind)

if the macca rumour is true then that means 2 major acts they had in mind haven’t gone through with it. Which just seems really bad luck for glastonbury.

If (in taking into account timing) Stormzy was booked for a headline before macca pulled out. I highly doubt they’ve managed to be able to pull Lady Gaga out of nowhere. If so, why not book her for Friday headliner?

i think that if macca has pulled out we aren’t going to get someone like Gaga replacing him. Unless she became available only recently

if it’s true she is doing BST, then that surely must of been booked ages ago right?

You sound like a bit of a weapon if i’m honest (no offence).

Yeah so there’s conflicting info.

anyone considered that maybe McCartney pulled out a while ago and it’s actually Stormzy that was maccas replacement?

would fit the info she had about a solo act filling in to replace? Then they just did a day shift and put Stormzy on the Friday?

we have no idea when the McCartney pull out happened? Could have been a while ago as Neil said that info is quite old

No, because Twitter girl said it was Stormzy, Macca and The Cure and the Macca replacement is a solo artist who's been approached but not signed yet and they surprised her and she thinks they may say no.

Maybe she was talking of an offer to Kendrick given he is now seemingly about.

The surprise being that it would seem unlikely given the Stormzy announcement.

I realise I'm clutching here...

Hopefully, and hopefully the reason she was surprised is because of it meaning two hip-hop headliners, and she thinks he could say no because he didn't seem to be active and apparently asks for a lot of money.

But I think it's very unlikely.

I think he probably was. It looks pretty certain that he was signed up as headliner at the end of the summer, and booked that far in advance certainly doesn't imply that they were struggling to find an act they wanted.

I can’t belive I’m entertaining this idea but Stormzy was 100% their 1st choice.

You don’t book a headliner and then have them pull out nearly a year before the gig and then just bumb the sub up straight away. They’d have still been trying to book someone else now as there’s still bands who are free, and Stormzy wouldn’t have been announced till April.

The Cure are Sunday and whoever has is the Saturday headliner has potentially pulled out according to twitter girl. The Cure arnt gonna pull out of Glastonbury so it all points to Macca if it’s true which I think it is.

Hmm so hard to tell whether Macca was in then out, or still in, or never in at all. I still think if The Cure are doing the Sunday, then the Saturday will have a massive headliner! But then I could be wrong and it could be banjo boys ;)

Seriously though, would love to see a headliner announced who we haven't even considered!

If i had a gun to my head id say Macca will headline but I'm a lot less sure than this time last week. Before I was 95% sure. Now it's closer to 50%. Part of that is probably because I really want it to happen and I'm trying to lower my own expectations though.

Was about to put forward the same numbers. Although it might have gone up to 60 or 70% today since Neil haven't had any confirmation on this Macca pull out. Still bit weird that also the BST announcement appeared to have been postponed (or that was just based on really old info).

    • Ann and Nancy Wilson are planning a final world tour for HEART starting next year. They were never at Glastonbury. They should do it.
    • sub yes I could see but I don't think they get 1hr 15, a headliner starting at 18:15 though is unlikely. Even the recent co-headlines that have had like 1hr 15 then a 1hr 30 after were on 8pm or just before, you are trailing behind more than 1.5 hours then. In that scenario some 3rd down bands are only starting at 18:15 and some haven't lol. I agree they won't not book them due to this but it won't be 6 headliners. It would be 5 headliners and you wouldn't want to see 5 headliners booked but Biffy were to not be thouhgt of as an option for one. Wolf Alice on the other hand could sub no bother and you'd think nothing of it. I'm not so sure Biffy would get headline though after the festival choice in Kendal this year.
    • Definitely. UKIP also used Merkel welcoming 1 million Afgans to Europe in 2015 during the brexit vote.   Politicians in other countries within the EU know the are going to lose voters to parties to the right of them over stuff like this and they've no control over it.
    • I think it will very much vary on who there is to book who they know will sell out a day.    They’ve co-headline and full headline stuff in future, there no reason at all they won’t do it again, even if it means cutting someone’s set by 15 mins or having a band less in a big bands day…   They’re not going to not book Foo fighters and instead get the equivalent of Florence and C&S just to not have a band do a big set…   …unless of course they think it will make them more money…
