But you were complaining about Stormzy?

Same thing. It should be someone who's great now, not someone who might be massive in the future. There are plenty of slots for legends / upcoming acts. But again, this is just my view on it.

but someone has to elevate an act to someone who's great now - and that's about more than just the act's output, that's about a public perception too - that's helped brought about by booking that act into big slots.

I think it's a great booking. I guess he'll smash it and then he will be 'great now'.

Sure, you might be right and he'll become massive after this. It's just there are plenty of small, medium and big festivals that should elevate him before this. Still a more brave and interesting booking than The Cure, for sure.

What difference does it actually make to the majority of acts who are great now?

By booking acts like Stormzy (he’s an example but in general), it helps the artist by giving them an opportunity they’ve never had before, the genre by giving it its biggest ever showcase, the festival by showing how its willing to take risks, and festivals in general by adding to a somewhat dying headliner market.

Some people are massively overestimating how much Nick Grimshaw and his mates give about Glastonbury placements. A lot of people think Dolly Parton headlined ffs, most people outside this forum don’t care about placement they just think it’s mildly interesting and worth repeating when they hear a rumour someone’s playing.

I stood next to Grimshaw watching Dolly at the Pyramid in the depth of the crowd. Remember it clear as day, he had a leather skirt on with ASAP Rocky tee, and him the crew were having a right ol' sesh on the hooter

It reminds me of 2015. I’m pretty sure it took a long time to feel confident in the headline trio. Not much was said about Kanye before he was announced. Also the Foos were similar to the cure in that we’d seen their dates and there was a few things flying about - but plenty to suggest they might not do it

Nobody has a clue do they on this third headline slot do they? 673 pages in, absolutely no idea

I haven't been in this thread too much lately so i've probably missed 100 rumours but... are we fairly confident of the 2nd headliner now then??

Still The Cure, probably for Sunday. Don't ask on the third.

I’m going back out on a limb. I know Emily said no but I think that’s it Fleetwood Mac. One of last on Michael’s wish list. Wembley gigs finish couple weeks before. They won’t announce until every ticket has sold.

Eavis and co have lied before. I’ve also been spectacularly wrong before.

    • My understanding is that the queues returning back to the UK will be much worse (up to two hours) but the queue entering Lisbon isn’t so bad. That’s just from reading a few forum posts about it though so take it with a pinch of salt!

    • World Cup 2026: What is happening with ticket prices? - BBC Sport   Sounds like Infantino has been learning from his buddy if he's running around claiming its all sold out while quietly dumping tickets below face on assorted secondary websites.
    • Mac DeMarco also cancelled
    • I'm British so it very much would apply for me.   I mean, it's a moot point as I don't have tickets so will not be in town for this, but I've heard reports of lengthy queues and given I remember Lisbon Airport having a long queue at arrivals even pre-EES when I went in 2023, I seem to guess it might be quite the wait, depending on flight paths.   Certainly, the worst I've had pre-EES was a 45 minute wait for a stamp at Valencia Airport in Spain, where 4 flights to non-EU destinations in quick succession were placed one after the other. So I can't say I'm enthusiastic about what's in store. Or you know. Maybe I'm just overthinking it.
