we have a virtual meet at the weekend if you are around ... same for anyone that needs cheering up .... usual time from 7pm everyone welcome .... what date is the rescheduled wedding ?

Are you doing both nights or just 1? I am out on Saturday unfortunately!

New date is 3rd September. Not sure why but I feel like if they did move it then early September would be the sweet spot as any later in the month comes with greater risk of worse weather.

2. I was showing off and declared I’d have a tattoo of the festival on my arse if it didn’t. A promise I pledge to keep.

If I’m gonna rely on anybody to get a job done right and my arse intact it’s the tories.

Cornbury Festival in July planning for reduced capacity and covid safety measures.  Makes sense for some festivals to try and plan for this so we at least get some kind of festival season if the government's "back to normal" turns out to be their usual bollocks.

Good on them for being proactive and trying to get measures in place. Hopefully their hard work pays off and it can go ahead!

Noisily is saying it'll be going ahead with testing at the gate, as well as doing anything else it might have to do.

I can’t see testing on the gate working.
That’s everyone in your car/ coach that can’t go in. Plus everyone you’ve been stood next to in the hours long  queue. Would have to be in advance surely.

It's actually annoying me most festivals ain't taking this approach and reducing capacity to have a small hope of going ahead.

Said it before. I really want festivals to come out and talk how they're going to be "covid secure"

Sacha has been a major advocate of getting festivals to go ahead, moved Parklife to September. But not really spoke of what they'll be doing to hopefully get it to go ahead.

Testing on the gate just doesn’t work logistically I reckon, even the rapid tests (which apparently fail like half the time) take an hour to come back. Don’t think that works at an event of Glastonbury’s scale.

If anyone wants a bit of encouragement, my girlfriends a doctor and got her first dose today after signing up yesterday- says at her paediatric hospital they’re vaccinating someone every 8 minutes during the working day.

That’s good to hear, thanks.

Not a hope. Ludicrous concept.

No they don't. We had them testing students for Christmas and they take about 25 minutes sometimes a little longer sometimes faster.

For something like noisily testing at the gate could work. It's only 4500 capacity apparently.

Hire in a couple hundred extra stewards and stagger arrival times and that's doable over a day.

It doesn't actually take each staff member 30 minutes to do the test, most of that time is actually resting the test for the result to develop. Then you have staff on the other side logging the results and texting it out to people. If it hasn't worked they need to do it again.

Based on our university testing one person could do 12 people an hour comfortably.

Just extrapolate those figures for Glastonbury attendance and you’ll see that it’s a complete non starter. That’s before you think about having to set up a mobile laboratory on every gate.
