Gaga - hinted herself, played before

swift - close friends have played, English boyfriend, played radio one big weekend

madonna - ruled out by emily

grande - possibly?

anyone else in the running if this is true?

Aside from the ones already mentioned by others,

Flo, although Boardmasters might have some form of South West exclusivity, and even if they don't they probably wouldn't be best pleased with their marquee act playing a couple counties over.

Beyonce, although there's no sign of her being active next year.

Kate Bush, although let's be honest that's never ever going to happen.

Also P!nk, the dates fit.

The only night she'd be free would be the Friday, which is already accounted for.

tbh I've never really got on board with The Cure headlining the Pyramid (though appreciate it came from Neil). Never quite felt right to me and if the Other rumour is correct then that seems a better fit.

Hopefully the Gaga dream is back alive. Vegas residency starts in a few days and there's been rumours of her 6th album being released on the eve of the first date. The residency taking a break 2 weeks before Glastonbury.... It's probably a coincidence but...but... but..

The Cure headlining Other can’t be a thing surely? Either they’re topping the Pyramid or not there at all - I’m sure Rob + co would rather just continue in their Glastonbury absence/topping every festival they play at rather than play second fiddle to Gaga/whoever.

Interesting that a female headliner is being brought back in to the mix, but if it turns out to be true then I can’t see The Cure also being there and so the info kind of falls apart altogether.

@eFestivalsWhat do you make of this Cure stuff? Possible? No chance?

from the festival side of things it sounds plausible, as I'm pretty sure that Metallica were originally pencilled in for the other stage.

From The Cure's side of things it feels unlikely, tho. I can't really see them not headlining.

I just think the cure playing the second stage at any festival is a no go for many reasons. They wouldn't devalue their own 'brand ' like that IMO

Only other thing I think of is if they do a similar thing to what they did with to get Roger waters and rod Stewart. Even then I'm dubious.

Fuck it, let's have Gaga on the Sunday night with Hot Chip subbing. The Cure just seem such an odd choice to close the Pyramid, can you imagine all the fireworks and that jazz going off whilst Bob and the boys look so bloody dreary. If they're willing to co-headline or play second stage at Southside or wherever then headlining Other isn't outlandish. Wouldn't say it's likely, but it's not beyond the realms of possibility.

Could be they accepted that slot like Metallica, where they are set to be bumped up if Macca falls through? If they can't get Macca then they could easily switch Gaga to the Saturday night as she's not actually touring, then have The Cure switch to Pyramid on the Sunday.

Pretty sure it’s like a second main stage so they won’t be up against Foo Fighters. Seems to be so that they can both have a day off in between cos they’re auld fellas. For all intents and purposes they are headlining the festival still, which they wouldn’t be doing on the Other Stage.

As best I can tell, it's a second major stage (like the Other Stage could be considered), but still with a distinct pecking order and a visible difference in size.

I can't find a good arena map for Southside, so using Hurricane as an example which is basically the same thing - last year they had a similar situation with Arctic Monkeys & Arcade Fire. Arctics headlined the main (Green) Stage, Arcade Fire headlined the second (Blue), but with their times only slightly overlapping. But looking at the times generally, one stage is definitely programmed much stronger overall than the other.

Ye but they were both headlining the festival so it’s not really the same deal as it would be at Glastonbury. Like, The Cure have coheadlined stuff before and probably gone on before their coheadliners - think they’re actually playing before Tool in the summer but obviously doesn’t mean they’d sub at Glastonbury.

The Cure are headlining major festivals throughout Europe next summer. They sold 80,000 tickets for Hyde Park this summer.

Why would they play the second stage at Glastonbury?

There was also a rumour before they were announced to headline Reading and Leeds that they were in fact headlining the NME Stage and Green Day (or someone else, not sure) were headlining the main stage.

"Hey Bob. We'd love you to play, but we'd also like a female headliner because it'd be great for the industry in general. Would you mind playing the second stage, so that Lady Gaga can headline the pyramid?"

I'd like to think that Robert Smith might actually support this kind of thing.

I'd like to think that. But I don't.

    • I mean I think unless you are camped in a particular bit which apparently you just get no sleep i feel it would be better setup to travel in from a hotel each day and back. Ah there is so many downfalls to it for me, I think the Download main stage area is so much better and that's coming from me. If you're camped in green to go round all the time and out for lidl and even water is stupid!
    • Did you camp or go for a hotel? I looked into it briefly and seems easy enough to get back to Nuremberg.
    • Been last time in 2018 when the festival was happening in parque Bela vista. ls the new location good for such a big festival? What's the temperature in the evening near Tejo? Should we bring a raincoat or a jacket?
