Stormzy ‘#Merky Takeover’ headlining Snowbombing. Dunno what that means, or what it means for Glastonbury, but he’s playing festivals next year if that was ever in doubt.

Someone will be bored at work tomorrow and will sort out for us what past headliners have done at Glastonbury in the same year.

Stormzy headlining Snowbombing shows he won’t be headlining Glastonbury, if people still believed he could.

Pretty much.

Subheadliner perhaps but you don’t headline Snowboming and The Big G in the same year.

As a huge Queens fan, I'm perfectly fine with them not rising to headliner level...I'd rather be able to see them in (marginally) smaller venues

Huge Queens fan here and I have to agree with others, they are not Pyramid Stage headliners and unless they drop something SFTD or Like Clockwork level...its unlikely to happen. Them at the Other Stage would be amazing.

That said, Id rather NIN at Glastonbury right now. Its been way too long and their tour looks amazing right now.

Kanye headlining... Interested to see how that will go down with his opinions and recent outings. Coachella doesn't strike me as a meeting place for conservatives. (Or maybe most people don't think in general, tend to overestimate humanity.)

He'll go down fine at Coachella but bar Justin T maybe that's woeful!

Yup, while it may be Austria and people are different sizes ..it's not happening.

It very much points more to The Cure, Arctics and Macca. Stormzy will sub most likely as subs haven't always been bigger than 3rd..he'll get the crowd going for the headliner.

My guess right now would be:

Friday:

The Cure - TWOD - Dua Lipa

Saturday:

Arctic Monkeys - Stormzy - Vampire Weekend

Sunday:

Macca - Liam G - George Ezra - Kylie

#sausagefest

TWOD before The Cure I doubt it.

I'd go

The Cure, Liam G, TWOD

Arctic Monkeys, Stormzy, American female artist.

Macca, Dua Lipa, George Ezra

Big sing along act inbetween on day 1, female artist day 2 and Female sub to mix it up a bit.

Can’t see Dua Lipa subbing, third down for me.

Childish gambino, Justin Timberlake and kanye headlining Coachella next year apparently

Don't know if this makes my 'Gambino headlining Other' shout from last week any more or less likely.

Shows that he'll still be touring at least relatively close to the festival though if true.

As someone whose been off the site for the last year, where does these Cure, Arctics, McCartney rumours come from?

Cure and Macca Neil had some information. AM is a guess based on them not doing RandL according to a person on RandL forum and ArcticMonkeysUS Blake saying they are playing an iconic June festival which you ‘have to assume means Glastonbury’.

I think @eFestivals has solid info regarding McCartney and The Cure. AM I believe comes from speculation from a superfan who has them pegged for an "iconic festival". A chap who correctly called Catfish at APE and The Killers at Latitude also gave Foo Fighters, The 1975 and Twenty One Pilots as R+L headliners today, which would rule that out as being the "iconic" festival for AM.

plus, I got a bit of further info that suggests them doing Glasto.

What do you rabble think about Take That headlining? I don't mean in terms of musical taste, but in terms of likelihood.

They're touring until early June next year, have a back catalogue of pop staples, and have previously said they'd love to.

They'd possibly create more of a tantrum than Kanye West but they're arguably more qualified.

I love it when threads collide, the Headliners 2019 thread and the What would stop you going thread together at last.

Think someone said they have dates every night of G weekend, thankfully. Think it’s near-inevitable they’ll pop up eventually, most likely when Robbie and Jason next rejoin - although then again I seem to remember they were one of the acts who had dates which suited the slot The Who eventually filled in 2015 but weren’t booked, so it may be that Emily understandably wants nothing to do with them.

    • 13th Primavera (Thursday was definitely making me feel like this was the cursed year).  Blood Orange was such a party by the end of their set but we all knew that rain storm was approaching.  So gutted Massive Attack didn't play after the false hope of a new rescheduling, especially knowing that Elizabeth Fraser & Horace Andy were backstage with them!  Managed a bit of Melt Banana but was just so over the weather by that point.   Friday was awesome, Rilo Kiley were so much fun.  Never been the biggest Cure fan but made the effort for them after Thursday & Robert Smith sounds like he did back in the 80s.  PinkPantheress & Viagra Boys were also great.   The highlight for me was Sudan Archives on the Saturday, she was stunning & with the Olivia Rodrigo surprise set too it made up for the Thursday sh*t show.  Dijon & Knocked Loose also superb.   Shoutout to Cardiacs on the Tuesday too, they were so LOUD, played a storming set.
    • OK, never mind, I'll take normal Nine Inch Nails.
    • Probably my least favourite of the five editions I've been to, but still plenty good enough for me to go again. Weirdly, I was just totally running out of stamina a lot earlier into the night than I remember happening in the past. I feel like I missed a lot of the weirder sets on the smaller stages as I was just totally cooked. Not Primavera's fault, obviously. Maybe I'm just getting old - or maybe I need to pace my drinking better...   Anyway - is David Byrne a realistic get for next year? Certainly hoping so.
    • watching clips of the cure in Barcelona, wow 2 hours 25 minute set. That's gonna be tough on the Sunday but can't bloody wait for it
