Still absolutely spellbound by the greatness we saw on Sunday. This guy is the standard setter in modern music as we know it. We just saw him at the peak of his powers on the big stage. What a privelege.

Saw him a couple of times on the last tour and he wasn't playing it then. All he mainly played from TPAB on the last tour was King Kunta and Alright I think. (just checked and he'd only played it 3 times in about 6 years prior to last week) Blacker The Berry was the one for me. Never seen him play it in 4 previous gigs and he's only played it an handful of times ever. What a time to do it, and to do it so seemlessly.

He definitely doesn't carry the chart success of Jay Z or Kanye so i was expecting a largely chinstrokey type reception, with the odd sprinkling of hype for Maad City/Humble/Alright etc. What we got was a fanatic crowd befitting of one of his own shows, unreal. By the time we got to the end of the GKMC run and N95 hit it was already game over - the field were under the spell and in there for the course. Fucking hell what a night.

I knew kendrick would do his bit but the setlist and the crowd are what elevates this gig into classic status I reckon. It was loud in the pit where I was (which was to be expected) but I wasn't expecting it to sound as wild as it does watching it back on TV. The crowd feedback during the early Maad City-Money Trees-Backseat Freestyle run is absolutely insane. As the years go by and Kendrick's rise inevitably continues I think this will be one that a lot of people regret not attending.
  5. Greentea Peng, Friday afternoon. She announces her next song, the hazy summer chiller "Miss Da Sun" - and at that precise moment the grim as fuck Friday afternoon skies part and we get our first glimpse of the day at the yellow ball in the sky. Queue crowd hysteria. A perfectly timed moment of bliss and one that sent my Friday into hyperspeed. 👌

Was it ever in doubt? Lyrically & sonically note perfect, wonderfully choreographed, a powerful message throughout, a charged up, engaged crowd hanging on every word and all wrapped up inside that monster setlist. As a long time fan this is said with all the bias in the world, but I genuinely felt like I was watching my generation's Bowie 00' headline show. Had high expectations for what he was gonna do with that performance, but wow. The best live performance I've seen in my 400+ attended gigs.
