Lennon, McCartney and Harrison each had ten times the songwriting chops of Gary Barlow, and The Beatles had all three of them! The marketing of TT can be compared to the early days of The Beatles on a basic and very simplified level but the latter grew into something far more credible and interesting than Take That could ever be. There’s no comparison worth talking about, before you even get onto the legacy The Beatles left behind which continues to influence music 50 years later.

Sorry if this sounds like mansplaining btw.

Yes, I recall the frog chorus as a highlight of Paul's career :D (ok I do own that single - I was young). So it took 3 brilliant songwriters to achieve their success in comparison to only 1 main songwriter for Take That's success. Sorry just being pedantic there.

Who knows what influences will be in music 50 years from now, I wont be around to say wether he will. But Adele has said Spice Girls were an influence on her, so it's not impossible.

They were a raw rock & roll band who played for a few years before the hits started. Yes, all the Beatlemania may give the impression they were a pop act for girls to scream at, but at heart they were always rockers.

Maybe because I was brought up listening to my dad's Elvis and Little Richard records my idea of rock'n'roll is different then.

is this what we think now? What percetange of certainty would we put on each?

I'd go 80% on all, even with Arctics. They are an easy booking for the festival and given their tour dates and the fact they'll probably do an outdoor tour next year the money will be there.

Seems to be ‘good info’ on all three. I’m not convinced though - would be the first time there’s never been a new Pyramid headliner.

Genuinely don't think that's that big of a deal. There's an entire generation come to adulthood since The Cure last did it. And Macca's not far behind.

Which was probably going to happen at some point. Say FATM did it...it would still technically be a returning headliner...plus it would be argued 4 years isn't long enough. The 1975 would be the only option around atm probably but if they've been offered headline and not at Glastonbury theb you have to say those slots these days while at your peak. I don't think there is enough in them maybe to headline Glastonbury then R&L the 2nd year plus their big tour....a secert slot perhaps.

At least it's not two returning from the same year as headliners.

    • Well when you chuck 150 predictions put somethings gotta stick 😜   When you have GC or Avril as options to sub Blink, Turnstile wouldn't be a good option at all. Put them under a heavier headliner.   The thought that three days grace will headline avalanche is pretty laughable with the slots they are getting this year at fests. They were class at RIP     On am overall side note, Bruce slipped on last night see you next year before the encore!   Also Maiden smashed it!
    • Assuming nobody knows she’s playing before the main sale, it wouldn’t be that bad. There’d still be plenty of Swifties for you to sneer at but it wouldn’t be because they’ve infiltrated the sale, it would be because she’s just that popular.
    • I just saw Rock am Ring in Germany did a video announcing blink-182 will be playing it next year during this year's festival there.   We talked about when Glastonbury announces it's first headline act but that would be different if they announced a 2028 headliner during next year's event.
