Headliners 2023

I don't disagree that it's tiresome for Neil to keep bringing up that he dislikes GnR every time they are mentioned, but it's no more tiresome and repetitive than people going "no, it's GnR and Arctic Monkeys" every time someone else throws out headliner possibilities.

They’re by far the most tedious people in the thread. A thread that’s supposed to be fun and speculative, getting ruined by killjoys rushing in to remind everyone that no discussion is necessary. Yawn.

Little Simz isn't even remotely close, not close to Stormzy yet

The bold is just inevitable, happens at festivals everywhere. I'm sure loads of my group would love the strokes or loyle carner but its not happening and they'll live

How does she compare to where Stormzy was when he was announced?

With the new date there's space to add one more line* before they bugger up the formatting.

*insert Lines n Noses gag here.

You are consistently my favourite poster.

This is my thinking too, a mini set of Sweet Child of Mine, Welcome To The Jungle, Paradise City, You Could Be Mine, and a couple of others and it would be a festival highlight. Sitting through 15 other numbers I'm not greatly interested in puts me off...

Yep, that would be spot on! This is my dilemma... it's my birthday that day as well. Definitely a chance I might ditch my husband and find another stage 🤣

I'm a fan of both GnR and Metallica but suspect the average Glastonbury goer will know more GnR songs than Metallica ones. Appetite for Destruction is one of the biggest selling albums of all time so although not singles , songs like It's So Easy , Rocket Queen and Mr Brownstone are problem reasonably well known.  The same can be said to a lesser extent with Use Your Illusions 1 & 2 . I'd suggest the average Glastonbury Pyramid headline fan will be aware of more GnR songs than not just Metallica but also  The Cure , Arcade Fire and possibly many more headliners.

Oh and how can fans of GnR be stuck in 1981 when they weren't even formed then . Like them or loathe them , they're a worthy headliner.

Good 90 mins + there of tunes everyone knows. Don't see the issue. Better than standing there politely pretending to like Stormzy.

Throw in a couple of covers such as Live and Let Die , Knocking on Heavens Door and Whole lotta Rosie and you've got a belter of set in my opinion

Not sure an 11 song setlist is 90 minutes? If it is and they drag out their songs that much i couldn't think of much worse, saw foos a few years ago and it was a bit of a snoozefest

This is what I'm hoping for. For me it would be a really fun set.

    • I mean I think unless you are camped in a particular bit which apparently you just get no sleep i feel it would be better setup to travel in from a hotel each day and back. Ah there is so many downfalls to it for me, I think the Download main stage area is so much better and that's coming from me. If you're camped in green to go round all the time and out for lidl and even water is stupid!
    • Did you camp or go for a hotel? I looked into it briefly and seems easy enough to get back to Nuremberg.
    • Been last time in 2018 when the festival was happening in parque Bela vista. ls the new location good for such a big festival? What's the temperature in the evening near Tejo? Should we bring a raincoat or a jacket?
