an absolute classic old school soul album.....

I stood next to him in The Portland Arms in Cambridge 4 years ago as he politely watched some local youngsters thrash about on guitars before he came on... a lovely, humble bloke and wow what a voice..

I was so looking forward to his homecoming gig at Ally Pally

I was a bit resistant to it because the Guardian went balls in on it calling it one of the albums of the decade but, ultimately, I have to concede they were right.

Agreed. A decent result. As an aside, do the kids not say balls out rather than in ? I’m trying to keep up with this stuff 🙂

The highlight of a fantastic festival for me! Still holding onto Blackpool tickets, hoping it occurs at some point in 2021 and maybe he returns to Glastonbury too. Great album and well deserved win.

He was great, really good on West Holts in 2016 as well. His music's so good that I sometimes forget how fucking cool he is.

Honestly I'd knackered my leg that day and could barely walk. I Managed to stumble upon the park stage and this incredible music was coming out of it as the sun set. 

The fairy lights offset the music incredibly.

Haven’t seen him live yet. Hope he’ll show up at Rock Werchter next year! 😊 This year their Barn stage had Big Thief - Kacey Musgraves - Richard Hawley - Michael Kiwanuka - Thom Yorke in one row. Excellent.

Yeah and despite Thom Yorke, that day was the weakest one for me. Other acts that weekend included The Strokes, Kendrick Lamar, Faith No More, Wilco, Beck, Liam, Anderson Paak, Pearl Jam, The Streets, Haim,... Really looking forward to 2021.

Just got into MK, what a talent.

I  liked this album when it came out and listened to it a fair bit. Had kind of forgotten about it, but inspired by the Mercury win I put it on for first time in ages today. Totally deserved winner, had forgotten how good an album it was.
