2011. I'm not a massive fan but my mates were so I went along. Wish I hadn't as Mike Skinner was totally off his face and it was a terrible set. He was stood on a box or something shouting to the crowd "I can see you, can you see me" for about five minutes.?

Yup. That was the occasion. Not my favourite Glastonbury moment

just took a call (about something else) from the main source who told me the cure. Anyway, talk gets back to the cure, and one of the extra things he said was "I'm 99% sure I was told they are on saturday".

That's interesting. Was hoping to avoid a clash between The Cure and Chemical Brothers, can see what's gonna happen though..

Is there an announcement on the horizon?

Most of us had them pegged for the Sunday given they were playing Werchter on the Friday. Does this affect the Killers/Sunday thinking?

Only surprising thing is that they’re not playing 2 days in a row anywhere else.

The Killers being for the local audience makes more sense.

Lauryn Hill is getting about this summer isn't she?! Still feels likely she'll head to the farm. The weekend before she's in Oxford. The Wednesday before the festival she's in Ireland.

Oh, and of course...Idles on for another festival.

When they announced their March tour, playing venues much smaller than they could have, I assumed they subscribed to the Malcolm Maclaren/Sex Pistols ‘always leave them wanting more’ view. But come festival season they’re seemingly in competition with Peter Hook & the Light to play everything they can.

Yeah, they've even left a day in between Madrid and Lisbon so them doing two days in a row would be very surprising. I guess it's not impossible but I still think Sunday is much more likely for them.

    • Pretty sure at the stage we can expect the charge for Man City will be a 10 point deduction for..... Everton
    • Ah those were the days....! When you could go to the festival and nearly drown.
    • It's only the last few years that the festival have started calling it the Legend Slot.  For most of its existence it's been the Teatime Slot, with the idea it was the sort of music that Jean Eavis liked to listen to whilst having tea on a Sunday afternoon i.e. MOR, Radio 2, borderline easy listening sort of music.  Hence bookings like Shirley Bassey, Neil Diamond, Tom Jones, etc.  There's mibbe some overlap there with classic radio rock and of course the boundaries are all pretty fuzzy now, but it's generally not a rock slot.
    • I've never had any issues. Remember watching some Tour De France stages on phones in the past. Maybe at the festival sight it could be a problem, but I think people are spread out enough on camping.    Maybe it will be different this year with only teenage girls coming to see The Cure, David Byrne and Napalm Death 😅
    • They'll surely put AdP on Woods. They are aware of the off the scale level of hype.
