By all known laws of the Thingy we should have something, anything, in the next 48 hours.

Is there a list of the time of day the previous announcements have been made midweek?

Straws. Clutching.

Is a pattern the same as a rule though? Surely the rule is that there is no pattern...

Just give us a damn announcement!

There is a pattern. A pattern of taking us to the brink of insanity.

We're all here Eavii now pull us back before it's too late!

Blimey, was The Streets stock that low in 2009?

Yup. This is why I’m so surprised that the comeback is being mooted as such a big deal. I am trying to remember what year Mr.Skinner last did Glastonbury (2013?) but it was to a half empty JP Tent.  Neither band nor audience really wanted to be there....

With The Streets I feel like in the past four or five years there's been a big recognition of how influential the first three albums are.

Remember seeing them at Boardmasters 09 (I think) when I was about 17 and really enjoying it, but not really having a clue outside of Fit But You Know It.

It wasn't until I went to Uni that I really started to appreciate the albums as a whole, and the influence they've had. Almost like he needed to go away to come back sort of thing?

I do think that there is something in that and that it is becoming more common. I could speculate that this is driven by relatively few “festival type” bands sticking around for long enough to build name recognition. Anyway who knows!

Anyway back onto headliners. Gaga please Mr.E.

There is a pattern.

Emily looks at The Thingy and chooses a date based on any slight sign of  a pattern. As February almost showed a Friday type pattern she decided to do the next announcement in March.

I blame The Thingy

All hail The Thingy

#thereisnopattern

She's going to announce on 1st March to spite us isn't she?

There's nothing bigger than a comeback where they say "fuck it, I'm just going to play the hits and not realise a new album no one will buy".

In saying that, I think there are plans for an album:

Worked for the Stone Roses.

Longer than I thought too, they got a good 4 years out of that reunion. Faded after 2013 really though. Heaton park in 2012 was still one of the best gigs i've ever been to (not for vocals or anything) but purely for excitement, atmosphere and crowd generally just getting involved- it just all clicked however at Glasgow Green in 2013 and subsequently The Etihad in 2016 they got progressively worse on the same set list.

I made a conscious decision, which with the benefit of hindsight I cannot fathom, not to bother with Heaton, thought it would be shit and full of sad cases in bucket hats lobbing piss around, but by all accounts it was genuinely brilliant. Went to Finsbury the year later and really enjoyed them, never bothered afterwards, really should have seen them at their first reunion shows.

Saw them at Heaton, Finsbury and Wembley in 2017 and performance level wise 2017 may have been the best, but it was looking like that'd be their last gig anyway even at the time so it's possible they worked their nuts off to deliver a great set and it worked. Heaton was still the pinnacle though

    • Consider that the sound quality can be better near the front bars right behind the soundbooth rather than closer to the stage, like with mbv. And of course, the front sections are full of talkers too.   The most courteous move would be to have conversations in the very back of the field.
    • I mean...I do think it all needs more regulation, but god knows how when it's all so global...but there's so much stuff on there that is messing with our little minds. But also, he has given these companies till September, and well...he'll surely be gone by then. I think social media ban for under 16s will likely happen, but I think regulating it for everyone is better. It's the not the kids we should be worried about, it's all those middle aged doom scrolling keyboard warriors like me.
    • I agree the prices are tough for locals. You can see if Porto timetable is the type that works for you and it's a terrific city. Also cheaper. https://www.primaverasound.com/es/porto/lineup-porto
    • thanks XXialac! i guess for us the most important aspect will be a festival that starts very late in the day, specially in these southern countries were it can be really hot! The combination of visiting a new city, having good lunches and enjoying a festival is a absolute must for us. Also, we like headliners but the undercard is just as important; truly enjoyed Men I trust, NewDad, Big Thief this year so from that angle it is not really a big thing if a festival is somewhat smaller.    Apparently my bad, i had 5 in my system but 0.5 (10%) increase is still huge. I am not sure how teenagers can afford these prices............
