Thats pretty much the crux of the matter. Forecast given on the Wednesday afternoon of the festival last year for the Friday (40 hours later) was wrong. Thread is a complete fucking waste of time.

As is that genocidal maniac Jackone and his "it may rain, but I dunno like" forecasts in late May.

"The lotto numbers in a month may be 3, 19, 26, 42 and 51 but they may not be either. Its too soon to tell"

I remember checking the thread on the train down on Thursday, reading that there was going to be no rain on Friday, even 24 hours before they didn't predict the Friday downpour.

Forecasts can be...tricky to say the least, especially when the weather chops and changes, as it does often.  But remember this too, 2007 and 2010 were pretty much known before setting off.  The extra rain on the Sunday may not have been predicted, but we knew 2007 was an out and out mudbath and we knew 2010 was going to be scorcher. And everyone knew the ground was sodden in 2011.

I'm going to say it, I've never been rained on at a festival.

It's rained to some degree every Glastonbury I've been to, except 2010 when I only came on Sunday.

See you there.....bring your wellies.

This morning the forecast for Manchester was clouding over, cloudy with rain from about 5pm....

It's still sunny now.

Exactly. Even on the day you can't predict it. I was praying there wouldn't be a thunderstorm on my way home as predicted, now there's barely a cloud in the sky!

And the rollercoaster begins...

Accuweather has changed to just 8mm of rain over the weekend. Weds aft shower, cloudy thursday, wet saturday, sunny friday and sunday.

Mixed bag similar to last year.

I like the sound of that, 8mm really isn't a lot, especially if it happens to fall early in the morning.

Exactly. The timing of the rain is almost more critical to ground conditions than the amount. As long as it rains between 5am and 10am, the ground doesn't get as churned up as it would at peak times.

dunno what you looked at, but I set off on Tuesday afternoon and there was to be showers on Friday afternoon and then some rain from Saturday night onwards.

i was coming from abroad and didn't have internet access while roaming, so this was definitely the latest I checked the forecast, as I had told the others I was with this on the journey to Glastonbury that day, and it turned out to be almost spot on (Saturday night's rain actually came Sunday morning, and didn't last as long as had been predicted).

Really?

Absolutely torrential here in fallowfield with thunderstorms. Well it was from like 10-1amish anyway

Slept through it all here in Audenshaw..

Then was woken at 4.30 by a bird that's clearly got in my loft somehow. :fuckyou:

Remember right up until a few days before the festival, all we are looking at are general trends and predictions in high and low pressure, anything more specific beyond that is bs at this stage.
