Easier said than done!

It makes me a little sad that people come in here in some cases to feverishly worry about something that is entirely subject to change, we've all seen these long range forecasts that were a bit bobbins in the past :D

Oh yeah, we're at least a week away from useful info, even about ground conditions at the start of the festival. Doesn't stop me coming here for every new post!

This is all part of the build up for me. I love the speculation, pretending to understand what weather charts mean, the optimism in the face of a bad forecast, evenThe Nals unending pessimism.

The main reason I read this, is because there's always the chance that there will be wall to wall sunshine forecast and I won't need to pack my wellies

Fair enough if you're coming by coach and therefore have to pack light, otherwise I just decide now to check the wellies in the car and have done with it ;)

I've never trusted the iPhone weather app. It always says rain! It's been saying rain every day in Glasgow for the past fortnight and we've had heatwaves lol.

Ideally I would like warm but cloudy. If it rains now and again, fine by me. I'll have my waterproofs and I'll jump in the mud until the sun's back out :flood:

BBC week long forecast just been on....if it had been next week we'd be screwed!

But there's plenty of time for change, low pressure in control next week but let's hope that gets kicked into touch (or Sweden) well before we get down there

Oh no, we ARE on our own this year- jackONE / J10 posted this on the net weather forums:

Unfortunately things are a bit different this year, I will publish a blog on Wednesday and that will be my last Glastonbury blog for this year.

I am unable to give the time to the blog after Wednesday, however the good news is there will be an official Net Weather forecast on a regular basis thereafter.

I do feel bad if I am letting anyone down, but next year fingers crossed, I should be able to do the blog as normal.

However I will still be popping in here from time to time, to follow the latest patterns.

Checked a few sites this morning, absolutely convinced Nal is CEO of Accuweather :D .. they're troll central

They're the only ones predicting doomsday at this point (early I know) but if I remember rightly when someone was tracking all the sites in the run up last year they were the furthest out..

Keep the Faith.. ... as that's all we have..:imsohappy:

I'm not gonna start worrying too much until the day before - I pretty much relied on I think J10's forecast last year and it wasn't far wrong. Whoever it was called the first lot of rain on Friday (I remember I was walking past Catfish) and the 2nd downpour in the late afternoon was unexpected. The Sunday rain I expected too.

From looking at the forecasts they don't look that bad. A few forecasting thunder etc but looking at the rain levels forecast thats not a lot. Less than half an inch of rain isn't that bad spread over a day. I'd barely notice that (unless it came down all at once!)

There's really no need to fret about showers a week before the festival. I'd much rather it be wet then, than during the festival itself. Nothing is looking too bad at the moment so I don't see where all the doom and gloom is coming from. It's completely up in the air at the moment.

its utterly pointless to even speculate this far ahead, even meteorologists will admit that long range forecasting is basically akin to psychic readings at this point, all the forecast models in the world cant predict random changes to weather patterns over time. I was always told however you get the most accurate forecasts from sites that cater to the farming community because obviously they take pains with accuracy as farmers have a lot riding on an accurate forecast to make decisions about crops etc Need to track down a British version of a site like this really. http://www.almanac.com/weather

True. Evidenced by the fact that Countryfile's forecasts on Sundays are always the most accurate of the TV ones.

I don't think the country file one has been particularly accurate for years- it's reputation seems to have been built on one accurate forecast quite a few years ago. In fact their forecast isnt based on the most recent readings at the time of broadcast

Bad news: Latest GFS run has likelihood of rain from tomorrow for a week and a half on and off.

Good news: High pressure arrives on a majestic stallion on the Thursday of the festival.

How evident was this short-term poorer weather a few days ago?  Half a week ago I thought it was going to be dry and stable for the next two weeks!

Rain next week has been evident for quite a while. Having said that, the weather has been consistently better than predicted for the last few weeks in the South West, so I'm trying to be optimistic that the ground isn't too wet before we arrive.

Yeah, I'm further SW (Exeter) and its been a mostly dry several weeks.  I'm hoping it's been similar at the farm, and that most of the work of heavy machinery is complete if there is a bit of rain over the next few weeks.
