I'm calling bullshit on this Underworld stuff. Where does it say that? They're doing Bestival AND Camp Bestival. I know those two kind of go together, but it's a weird use of exclusive. Can someone link me up with this exclusive thing?

Just to add to this, one of the chaps from Underworld was on 6Music with Lauren Laverne today and he said that Underworld would be doing their new show at 'all the festivals' right through the summer.

Or summat like that.

I like lots of their early stuff but found most of their 80's onwards stuff a bit duller and more 'poppy'.................. though can say live they were immense

Dire Straits are not really my kind of thing but there is a lot of respect for Mark Knopfler, especially from my generation and older. You have to remember that when I was growing up in the 80's and 90's, there really was only MTV (VH1 came a fair bit later) and Dire Straits were main stays on there. As fair as British guitar bands go, Dire Straits would be considered a legendary band. Maybe they do not have the cult appeal of The Smiths. Or they were never as cool and experimental as New Order. But they deserve a lot of credit for their achievements.

I'd say that sounds like "They'll be doing a new show at all the festivals they're playing this Summer", which doesn't really change anything.

I think it'll just be Bestival and Camp Bestival. I'm sure a Bestival exclusive can be easily spun to include Camp Bestival.

Yeah but that just goes towards what I'm saying. They were huge in their time but haven't transcended generations like many older acts considered 'legends' have. It's a real nothing term but I was just pointing out that the biggest selling acts of the last decade aren't necessarily gonna be the ones revered in thirty years time.

Of course they deserve credit for what they achieved at the time but as someone who grew up long after the 80's passed, the Straits barely got a mention in my 'musical upbringing' whereas Queen etc were constantly very fondly recalled, almost to the point I hated them for it

Nah, they definitely made it sound like they'd be playing a lot of festivals this summer. Whether those festivals are in the UK is another question entirely I suppose.

True, but as you say they don't have to be UK. They can play loads of festivals and still a UK exclusive to Bestival.

Oh I'm not doubting that it sometimes happens, but the majority of exclusive claims turn out to be true.

I don't remember people getting this upset over exclusive claims before the Metallica thing though.
