I remember last year's contained Jack White as a 'UK festival exclusive' on the eFests article but may have just been circumstancial.

I don't think having to keep a headliner under wraps until mid May is something they're looking to do every year to be honest.

I don't think having to keep a headliner under wraps until mid May is something they're looking to do every year to be honest.

There is a possibility the main announcement won't be made until the end of april at the earliest. So they can hold back a headliner or two if they want. They will no doubt tease us with at least a few bands before ticket deadline day.

I think to be looked back on as legendary you need to be innovative and push boundaries

I dont see much innovation around these days (apart from with the small bands that barely anyone bothers with, but you need a degree of popularity to hit legendary status)

In the case of Fleetwood Mac - Isle of Wight, John Giddings etc will say it's an exclusive until it isn't anymore.

At the time Eavis saying the mac were not available that may have been the case. Look at his quotes for the year Wonder got booked to headline. Anything Eavis says is to be taken with a pinch of salt anyway.

Look at other exclusives across festivals. Reading with the strokes. Download with Faith No more. There are loads them. "Exclusive" is nothing other than shite marketing

I agree. Probably them, coldplay and muse will be considered the biggest bands of the 2000s.

But none of them will stand up alongside true legends like bowie, beatles, pink floyd, stevie wonder, neil young etc.

I think Biffy Clyro will be up there. You may not agree with them being "classic" in 20 years time by they will certainly stand the test of time I think. No-one would expected them to have achieved pop icon status 10 years ago.

Good question. Many will disagree with any answer anyone gives, but I'd say Arctic Monkeys, Arcade Fire, Beyonce seem pretty unarguable.

I don't think Arcade Fire even come close. Many people didn't know who they were when they headlined last year.

To me the biggest three bands of the 00s from a British adult perspective feels like Coldplay, Arctic Monkeys, and ... maybe Muse?
