Check out craigb getting precious.

For some reason, this guy is absolutely livid Fleetwood Mac aren't playing Glasto. I wonder what stage of grief is going to come next.

:sarcastic:

Couldn't care less if they are headlining or not. Rather glasto give the opportunity to a up and coming band rather than these old timers

F*ck it, Florence plays elsewhere. Swift supports Coldplay and Kanye headlines.

We're running out of festivals that Florence can play imo

T seems to have a few acts in the running for headline spots.. i know Glastonbury doesn't ever book deliberate exclusives but I think this will be the only festival flo will do.

She'l probably be at big weekend and glastonbury (headline) like Kasabian last year. Maybe one other big UK ticketed show I reckon

but all speculation and gravy.

Whilst a band denying playing isn't that unusual, FM did effectively tell fans who got a ticket just to see them to return it as they wouldn't be playing.

That would be a dick move if it did turn out to be false.

They may not have been booked at the time it was said.

A lot can happen in a few months.

Look at what happened last year, headliners chopping and changing

And the fact mick fleetwood charges up to a couple of grand for a meet and great. I dont think he gives a dam about fans

10 out of 10 for perseverance lad!

That Gibbons tweet has put a feeling in my bones that there's a trick up an Eavis' sleeve yet. I'm sure they know that having Coldplay & Foos as 2/3 leaves them open to criticism of going with usual festival generic headliners (irrespective of their size, they're both that).

I'll show my arse in Fenwicks window if it's FM mind.

I'm increasingly inclined to agree. I love that new song but it doesn't scream "the final piece in the jigsaw necessary for a band to step up to headline after a long time away".

yeah i get that - very much think she could sub Glastonbury (and maybe others) this year and then step up to headliner at other fests next year once the album has become more well established. at least that's what i'm hoping for - she wouldn't seem too out of place below Foos or Coldplay

What happened with Metallica last year is in no way relevant to FM this year. At all.

Answer me this: Fleetwood Mac could have played Glastonbury in any year they were touring, if they so wished (illness aside) - it's no secret Eavis has been interested, see the efests story about the 2014 headliners etc. So why on earth would they choose the one and only year they have ever been touted as an exclusive at another festival to say 'oh yeah, actually, we'll screw up this contract we made with another festival booker and play'? It beggars belief!

And if Metallica feature in your answer then I might utilise the ignore feature for the first time :P

The weird thing is I'm not even that much of a Fleetwood fan! I dislike a lot of their stuff

For Giddings to say "can never one-up glastonbury" says to me they have something special or they have douche bagged him and managed to get around this exclusive for FM

Did you leave?

If not, why?

No..... for 3 reasons

1 I was F'n stupid

2 I kept thinking it would get better, see 1 above

3 most of my mates were there, see 1 above

Having said that one of the other options was Munford and sons on the JP......cant remember what else but should not have stayed. Learned a very good lesson that night.....

or maybe in an interview where he says nice things about everyone, it was a little throwaway comment.

maybe the question was "how does it feel to get one up on Glastonbury by getting Fleetwood Mac" and he has given a nice diplomatic answer....

I'd still place considerable amounts on Florence and the Machine headlining as it's all seeming to shape up that way but I wouldn't be as naive as to think they're nailed on or that it's between them and Taylor Swift for a final slot. I still reckon Taylor Swift doing Sunday night is still as outlandish as AC/DC headlining. Plus obviously we had no idea about Coldplay so we're a lot less knowledgeable than we think.

I genuinely have no idea. Elton John would be the favourite in my eyes, but I think it's going to be someone that people have dismissed.

I would have to take a punt with Elton John, it's definitely as open a contest for who is headlining as I can remember

I will say it again and again and again metallica is not a special case, exclusives are not necessary exclusive. Look at Damon alburn, the strokes, pulp..... or more recently bastille, festivals claim to have an exclusive for them to turn up at other festivals.

Originally is was Elbow, Fleetwood Mac, and Depeche Mode being line up for 2014. None of them headlined and one played lower down the bill. As I said the line up chops and changes with different bands getting pencilled in.

The year Stevie Wonder played, glasto/Emily/Michael said he wasnt playing, a few weeks/months later they booked him to headline and he got announced.

Mick fleetwood is a money grabbing twat. If he's got a big fat cheque from iow and then there is a way for him to play another festival such as glasto that can up your record sales by 1000% why wouldnt he?

    • A name I didn’t think of. Maybe too big though. Think he’d go down very well despite being quite controversial.
    • Oh bummer, got excited then 😂   Although if I had read all the way down it would have been a bit of a give away, no other festival will book both of those 😂
    • I think the age of tickets flying out day one for a lot of artists is drawing to a close now, especially with the prices.   There will be exceptions of course, I was surprised how quickly Phoebe Bridgers sold out
    • Tbf they sold out the mainland European shows that follow this UK tour more or less immediately so I guess much of Europe will be stadiums for them next summer regardless and they might want to bring any stadium bespoke production here, even if it's just one night at a London stadium or whatever.    I like the new album and wanted to see them again but £150 for a standing ticket is ridiculous and all the sub-£100 price categories sold out. So you know, would like to go but guess I'm waiting for any last minute dropouts. Tbf I would hazard a guess of these 4 UK shows in November that more tickets are sold than unsold and by the time of the show it'll be, if not a full house, close enough.
    • I don't think it's out of the realm of possibility    It would feel like a bit of waste for their first set in the UK for 12 years be an hour and 10 mins as a sub    A lot of people will buy day tickets just for FNM
