Given that there'd be no fun in revealing who Patchwork are until they actually walk out on stage, maybe Secretglasto's big announcement is confirmation of someone it definitely isn't...?

Foo Fighters basically announced they were The Churnups like 3 days after the full lineup was released in ‘23, don’t think this was ever gonna be kept a secret until Pulp walk out, especially with them clearly alluding to it in a radio interview already.

It literally just looked this up for the Patchwork thread.

Doesnt seem like Lorde needs a complex stage set up to perform in woodsies, but what do i know.

If it is her (fingers crossed!) then I can imagine her doing something stripped down akin to this. This feels more like an appearance than a performance -  but from what she's described the album as, it's more of a stripped down feel, spur of the moment lyrics, not a lot of filigree on the music - And a pop up show of some kind would be exactly in line with how all the promo has been so far. I'm stoked

Has it ever been the case that a “secret set” remains secret until the act walks onto stage?

Yes but not the big ones. Fred again last year, Paolo nutini 2023. If it’s a proper tiny stage then it’ll be under wraps for Safety reasons

My guess is that Secret Glasto are not announcing anything but know that it is being announced by Glastonbury and/or the artist  tomorrow....

They did it with foo fighters/ churnups

No they didn't - the foos just dropped a few clues - we didn't know it was them until they rolled out on stage...loads of people on here still thought it was Pulp until the day

Makes no sense having a secret TBA name and then announcing it a few days later....

It does if you're Pulp. A load of extra hype/press to coincide with your new album launch, plus the honour of a special announcement despite a relatively modest spot on the line up.

It would make sense if Pulp - it was strange they didn't play this year and so surely it's this year or nothing...

That’s nonsense, they as good as said it

Can’t remember tbh but that was wilful ignorance by that stage if they thought it was pulp.

That said, this year is pulp

Even Dave admitted on stage they aren't very good at keeping secrets and knew people had known for ages.

Well the mail believe the 4th down Friday 35 minutes is Capaldi.

Capaldi, Alanis, Biffy, Fatboy Slim, Amelie Lens is a massive day. Usually I wouldn't come in here without a ticket much at all so until that week its on I know I accepting the years I've been and that if i don't make it back the runs been good.

That Dave's tweet made it obvious.  There was only speculation whether it's gonna be a proper Foos set, or some kind of Dave&friends thing/supergroup.

My guess is that Secret Glasto are well aware that all Glasto obsessives already know it's Pulp and would look pretty stupid if they waited so long to "announce" something that even the average punter that's barely paying attention knew before they said anything.  So they're announcing tomorrow to get ahead of events.

That would be my guess.

If you look at her previously Glastonbury sets ( and for her previous tours) , she’s always had a relatively big set-up. Band , bank up vocals , stage design etc. Her sets are always very carefully considered and she doesn’t normally have a stripped down set-up. The listening parties are surprise pop-ups and not necessarily reflective of her tour set-up.

IMO that makes it unlikely, especially as her tour doesn’t start until autumn.

However, it’s album release weekend… she has a Glastonbury history and she’s currently in the UK .

I definitely think even if she’s doesn’t perform her own set, she could appear for GSC with Charli.

    • A question has crossed my (questionable) mind;   Has the size of the Green Fields remained the same as other areas have expanded / been added on to, since say, 2014 (the last time that I attended)? Are they 'lost' within, or well attended?    That's actually two questions. The second one just slipped in at the end by taking advantage of my lack of means to stop it.
