Yeah I let out an audible groan when the very first thug I heard was his voice. Album’s… fine. A lot more mid tempo than their previous stuff which isn’t really what you want from them, but a couple of decent tracks in there. Hoping they stick to the Coachella set for Glastonbury and don’t let this album take up any more real estate in their setlist.

FWIW we were just discussing the secret set situation in the other place and came to the conclusion that there doesn’t seem to be room for one on the Park this year given we know the full Friday running order + the way the rest of the acts line up on the poster. Yep all the other info they gave proved to be good so would be odd for the Smile info to be off.

Suppose there’s a limit to how many cheapies bands are willing to do for the festival, and I do think it’s equally a case of them just being hard to place at Glastonbury. Besides, they needed to make room for Gossip and London Grammar to play.

Yeah it’s weird, but I suppose they’re a band who are only as big as they are because of their members so a bit of a strange one to place lineup-wise. Feel like a Park headliner but most likely want better than that, especially as they have quite an impressive lighting rig for their shows that I’m sure they’d want to use.

Orbital have confirmed themselves for the Saturday on their website.

Somebody (on here?) who gave us good info pre-lineup announcement said they weren’t playing as their fee was too high.

I’m sure there must be an instance where it’s happened, but it largely seems to be the case that its friends of the festival or acts who’ve previously played who do the secret sets. Suppose it makes sense that most acts don’t want their debut at the festival to be a secret one with a restricted audience.

One publication that has given a particularly scathing review has made a note of not printing the authors name due to a similarly negative review of Lover resulting in death threats a few years ago. Swifties truly are nuts, and I feel like she emboldens them far too often and calls them out far too little, even if she has finally given a little snap back on this album (albeit, only now that their ravenous fandom has affected her in a way she disapproves of). Also keep smirking at the general response to the initial album being ‘this is too long’ and then a whole second part dropping, although seems like she’s done exactly as she undoubtedly hoped and broke a whole bunch of streaming records on the first day.

It’s an absolute slog and I haven’t even got to the second disc yet. She very much needs to go away for a few years after she’s milked her fans dry with this release and tour.

Take the best parts of Midnights and the best parts of Folklore and throw em in the bin and what’s left is this new album. Was really hoping she’d move on from this sound she’s settled in to recently but this is probably the worst case of it. Needs to bin Antanoff (and probably also Dessner) and work with some exciting producers again cause this whole thing is just… nothing.

Letlive regrouping for a farewell tour next year. Not sure if they’re planning on festivals but if they are then Download will surely be all over that.

They’re playing a Japanese festival on either the Saturday or Sunday so seems like they’re gonna be Friday.
