The announcement of the printworks gig was enough for me to go back through the glasto lineup to see where I can put him in.

I hoped he was going to be the Pangea TBA but alas no :( I wonder what his AFX set was like a few years ago?  Saw him at Field Day 2017 and it was insane! Gutted I can't make the Printworks show as won't be in the country :(

This is a really bizarre take. What metrics are you going off of to create this weird scenario where Wolf Alice are still touring to big crowds in ten years and 1975 are DJ'ing? I like Wolf Alice but to try and make out that their music is "worth more" than The 1975 and that it will stand the test of time is mental. It's highly unlikely that any current bands music will still be spoken about in decades to come like The Beatles, Stones, Floyd, Radiohead, and even more recently bands like Arctic Monkeys are. We consume music in an entirely different way now and the invention of streaming means most people listen to playlists comprised of various artists instead of albums, and so 99% of the songs people listen to are forgotten about the next day and people are onto the next big thing.

I just find it really odd when people come out with things like your last sentence, making your opinions out to be fact and drawing these assumptions that are impossible to make. Yes a lot of The 1975's stuff is essentially pop music and a large majority of their fanbase are young girls, but it's hardly One Direction is it? Their newest album has gotten rave reviews from a variety of publications and one of the tracks was given song of the year by Pitchfork (Not a fan of them personally but I doubt they'd be giving song of the year to 1D). There's clearly more to their music than a lot of people seem to let on. Not liking them is one thing, but to make out like they have nothing to offer musically and they'll be forgotten about in a couple of years is mad.

Hate to use a modern medium but needs must. The Cure have more Spotify plays.

Whats that old metric used for the velvet underground? How many bands started after listening to their music? Even in the absence of reliable data, the Cure must be lightyears ahead on this front.

The 1975 are in fact more or less One Direction. Its just meaningless pop made to maximise returns.

Any chance that White Lies could be doing a secret set? I appreciate they're hardly the biggest name for many and it won't get the entire festival rushing over to see them. However, they have just come off a successful tour and had another good album earlier this year and it is therefore a bit of a shock, to me at least, they're not playing in some capacity.

They're active, playing a festival this weekend and then have a gig in Frome on the 11th of July, before heading off on a European tour. They also haven't played the festival since 2014 when they were on the Other Stage, so might jump at the chance to do something.

With regards to secret sets specifically, i was thinking maybe Williams Green on the Thursday or perhaps even opening the Park Stage maybe?

(This is all said with as much hope as anything).

Unfortunately they have said they aren't there this year.

Blossoms could be somewhere – William's Green maybe? They have a new single out Thursday and mentioned being at Glastonbury in an interview a bit back

Another one that you'd look at their dates and be certain they'd be playing this year.  I'd like to see them play William's Green personally.

Shocked there’s been no mention of Parquet Courts, album out not too long ago and have done plenty of UK fests recently, and seemingly they are in Europe during the Glastonbury period

I was surprised they weren’t on the lineup. They seem an odd choice for a TBA slot though, sadly.

The same with Young Fathers too really

What's the consensus right now?

No one knows much at all with any certainty (bar Foals by the look of it), so we’ve reached the point where people start just naming acts they like and suggesting that they could be playing.
