I think people must have forgotten all the crap nu-metal and post grunge crap we had to endure before The Strokes saved rock with Is This It.

It instantly changed mainstream music in both the US and the UK, and went on to influence many great bands.

And many utterly terrible bands.

One of the greatest gigs I've been to was The Strokes at the Barrowlands in 2001. A real 'I was there' moment. But there's no way they're Glastonbury headliner material. They could headline The Other or sub the Pyramid but I don't see them taking either slot if they're getting headline slots offered to them by the likes of BBK

Is This It was a masterpiece, as The Nal so succinctly noted, but everyone who has spent more than five minutes on The Strokes know that Room On Fire is their best record.

I flick between both of them being my favourite, both absolutely incredible. But yes, ITI is an absolute masterpiece. No pissing around, punchy, excellent riffs, power, brilliant listening.

First Impressions isn't the worst either, it has some brilliant tracks on but not as consistent as the first two.

FWIW, I don't think they'll headline at all, but if they're there in any capacity it would be amazing.

One of their more memorable shows?

I'll throw my only Strokes gig into the mix

NY's Radio City Music Hall summer 2002, with the White Stripes supporting (I'd seen them for the first time at Glastonbury earlier that summer) and Jack White joining The Strokes during their encore

I've just been told by someone "in the know"(he works at one of the largest promoters in the country) that the headliners are Stormzy, The Cure and... The Strokes. I'm not buying it, but thought I'd put it on here anyway.

Has he been right before? Seems more and more realistic. I think I want it too much but did he say anything else? The Strokes are around, not played before which is what Eavis originally said could be an exclusive which Glastonbury love to find. I'm convinced.

Me too.

Who would get the bigger crowd at Pyramid?

Personally think The Strokes would.

If The Strokes played Last Night first, there'd be 22 people left for the rest of their set. 21 of those would leave once they'd done New York City Cops.

And those waiting for Reptilia, Is This It, Someday, Hard to Explain etc? They've got a fair few very well-known, very recognisable songs, albeit largely off their debut album (which is incredible). This is no different to making the equivalent joke about The Cure with Friday I'm in Love (with Boys Don't Cry as the second one).
