I just can't imagine there being any interest in The Strokes headlining a festival the size of Glastonbury these days.

Not as a  headliner at any rate, they'd be a decent sub but by all accounts they wouldn't accept sub money.

People were saying the same about The Cure just over three months ago.

At least The Cure still headline major festivals, do The Strokes any more? Honest question, haven't really seen them on many lineups over the last few years so not sure where they would place these days.

Only frame of reference I have these days is that BST gig a few years back which sold so badly they were giving tickets away in the build up to it.

I've just been told by someone "in the know"(he works at one of the largest promoters in the country) that the headliners are Stormzy, The Cure and... The Strokes. I'm not buying it, but thought I'd put it on here anyway.

It's happening.

Lollapalooza, Austin City Limits, Primavera Sound and Benicassim spring to mind from very recent years. Reading and Leeds if you go back a little further. But no, they're not gonna headline Glastonbury. Secret set is the best chance, I reckon.

They seem to headline pretty much anything they play nowadays. Not festivals as big as Glastonbury but what else is? Plus I feel they’ve had something of a resurgence along with many other 2000’s indie bands, and they’ve played only a handful of shows in the past seven years so a lot of youngsters still need to see them. I think they could still headline Glastonbury at some point - seems more likely than a lower spot anyhow.

Did someone say on here not long back that The Strokes are doing one of the London summer gigs (All Points East maybe) or have I imagined that?

Must be APE as doubt BST would have them back when they barely got 20,000 odd in at Hyde Park, even with freebies in the run up

That was before freebies. There was way over 20k at the concert.

My bad, sure I read the 20k figure somewhere, might have been sales made in the run up. In hindsight if did feel more than 20k though I was pretty wasted after Beck. Can remember both The Strokes and the sound being much better than expected though.

    • No worries, it's a perfectly fair question to ask. I would expect people to be talking at the back & near the bars & that is where I would want them to be talking. If your group are enjoying yourselves & the music & briefly chatting to say how much you are loving a certain song etc, you would be an ideal group to stand behind.   My issue is with people having full blown conversations (usually unrelated what is on the stage) whilst being surrounded by people who are trying to listen to the music. This was happening in the middle and towards the front of all stages, & so you have limited options to move around & you may have spent 20 minutes waiting for the band trying to get the closest position that you can. If there's a group of 8 people, there may be 2 or 3 that like the band & the rest will start talking if the music isn't their thing. This may be the norm now for festivals, and if it is, that's ok & I will focus on a band's own gigs & UK based new music festivals.    I'm also not including consequences of my own decision making. I saw Geese on Wednesday so went to Occident after Men I Trust finished so it was understandable there would be chatting that far back. Similarly, getting to The XX after Olivia Rodrigo along with most of the site, I knew my chance of a good spot & a chat-free zone had gone so that was completely reasonable.   PS. I went to Bilbao BBK in 2023 & 2025 & enjoyed it. For Pulp & Kylie in 2025, I got a position early & was surrounded by a respectful & fun crowd for both. The UK non-headlining bands tend to go on the undercover 3rd stage, & most people like to congregate outside so you can usually get close to the front of that stage.
    • Interview on 6 music earlier, was going to get the album to have a listen, but comes out the day they play the festival
