Swift at 6/1 is kind of tempting there.

Not if she's just having a taster of the festival experience and making a guest appearance with someone this year as she's in the area, then playing the following year if all goes well......

Pure speculation but could just see her attending with ed sheran and her other UK pals to get a feel for it.

nah that won't happen - if she's gonna be at the festival, it'll be to play a full set. may well end up being a sub slot on either the Friday or Sunday, but that remains to be seen

Goodbye indeed, you really aren't needed here.

I'm a Spurs fan and there's a need to understand what's going on here. We use the term 'Yid' inclusively. Its a little part of our identity. Its analogous to gay people using the word 'queer' or black people using 'nigger'. (Not exactly the same I know). Using a term that is aimed at abusing you in an ironic way is a way to reclaim language and establish identity.

Using the same term to abuse somebody is completely different. So Swift is a Yid, Yanye is a nigger, in a different context is racist.

Sorry if this is difficult.

The problem with this is the assumption that everyone will understand or care that people are "reclaiming" the term, whichever one is being bandied about .

It only just clicked with me the other day that her and Sheeran really are actual great mates, and he rubbished the Glastonbury rumours didn't he? And he'd know in December or whenever it was, wouldn't he?

Sure, but the context of Carlton's comment, "Swift is a Yid" is pretty unambiguous. And I think its a racist slur. Was he really saying this US singer is a Spurs fan?

I'm going to duck out at this point. More interested in GF headliners here, tbh.

At the risk of looking like I'm defending the post, I actually think he did mean she's a Spurs fan. Obviously from a normal poster this would be an abysmal insult, but from a parody account of a West Ham player whose posts tend to be related to football it seems perfectly in character. Just like if there was a Steven Gerrard parody account he'd probably say "Haha Swift's probably an Everton fan #banter" or some shite. Obviously using "yid" was stupid, and if I am correct, would have been more normal to say "Swift's a spud" or something.

Yep - the reason he gave was that she wouldn't enjoy playing festivals because she wouldn't have control over the staging (paraphrasing)...that in itself is clearly crap because she's since been announced for the Big Weekend, but it doesn't mean Ed's general denial that she'd be there was him talking out his arse.

Oh right I remember this now. In fact I did initially point out how much different R1BW and Glastonbury were in terms of staging and how much control she'd have over the set and stuff. I just didn't realise at the time he was someone she would actually tell straight away if she was playing Glastonbury. He could just be being crafty I suppose.

Yep, if Swift's team knew the question was going to start coming up and the answer was yes but they didn't want to admit it at that time then it'd have been quite possible to tell Ed or someone to put it out there that it wasn't going to happen instead. Far better for Ed to be seen as being wrong with a fairly vague "I think" type statement which they could then pass off as him just not being ITK, than for Taylor to have to outright lie and then backtrack.

Tbh the possibilites are so extensive that it's probably not worth trying to read too much into it.

Yeah..this 4 nights on the trot seems unlikely

I dunno why. She's 25 and has been singing most of her life, it's not going to be that much of an extra strain for her. She does 3 nights in a row fairly regularly on tours in America/Australia.

That prediction was based on them abandoning their set last year and EE's statement regarding bumping people up to headline status......I accept its not very credible haha

They're meant to have a new album out in April/May so it's semi plausible. I suspect it wont be a popular opinion on here but I loved their first album and thought they were awesome when they played in 2013. As long as they had new material I'd definitely go see them again.

Probably not big enough for the pyramid, but do wonder if they could headline other.

I think Other sub would be more likely but they could probably get away with headlining it.
