Headliners 2015

Can someone inform me as to why exactly Swift is rumored? I know she has been for a while, and see that she is in London on the Saturday, but looking at her tour dates I am not seeing any instances of her playing 3 nights in a row, which would be required to do the London > Glastonbury > Dublin run.

Efestivals has 2 seperate sources suggesting she is playing. However, they can't necessarily be trusted as 100% true.

Personally, I think people are getting carried away in assuming she is playing ... Similarly to how Flo somehow became dead cert to headline for some people with no proof at all.

Neil (or Scott) was told from one of their sources that she would be headlining the Sunday night. not 100% to be believed, and something might've changed since then, but it's probably more than they've had on any other acts so worth keeping as a rumour

I personally didn't think she had a big enough adult following here in the uk to headline - but she certainly has some fans on this forum alone!

i agree completely.

i can certainly see her playing, and no doubt she's popular in a general public sense, but as a Glastonbury headliner I don't see it at all.

maybe at V or TITP or similar, but I think at Glastonbury she'd have one of the smallest headliner crowds for many years.

and I say that as someone who likes her stuff.

i don't think so. she's insanely popular. i think you'd be very surprised at the crowd she pulls - a lot of people (myself included) wouldn't pay to go see her at one of her own gigs, so for her to be headlining a festival is a dream come true. i think a lot of people would look at it the same way

i think going to her 'normal' concerts would feel a bit mental, the demographics maybe somewhat annoying...

because as a 25 year old guy i'd feel like a bit of a dickhead stood in the middle of a Taylor Swift gig belting out her tunes (probably alone, because i doubt i could convince a friend to fork up the money for it). i went to see Pink a few years ago (mate had free ticket, i thought 'why not?') and i just felt odd. wouldn't be so at a festival. i'm sure many people have acts who they'd never pay to see at their own gigs for whatever reason but jump at the chance to see them at a festival

she's insanely popular mostly with the Take That/One Direction/Adele crowd who go to a few gigs a year and mainly like what X-Factor puts in front of them. while I don't doubt that some of these people go to Glastonbury too, they're definitely in the minority at the festival.

i'd say you'd be talking about somewhere in the region of 40k-50k at the Pyramid if she headlined.

This is why I ruled her out in my head. She can obviously do 3 nights in a row tho. But Emily hinted the acts arent rumoured so more reason for me to rule her out. Problem is when someone doesn't want to believe something they make it work that way and convince themselves of things. This could be what I'm doing.

Think that's a fair assumption to be honest.

Of course it would depend on what's on offer elsewhere but for all her popularity, her fanbase is young.

Even my youngest sister, who is 23, thought the idea of her headlining was silly

I agree, I've been racking my brain, if someone like taylor swift can headline, why does someone dismiss an act like take that/Robbie without a thought.

Also...I know she's got 5 albums and a large fan base, but has she got enough songs to keep a glastonbury crowd happy for that amount of time. I'm edging her as more of a sub, or not at all

No chance - people go and see Pyramid headliners just because they're Pyramid headliners. You're mistaking the Pyramid crowd for the eFests contingent.

Christ i felt like a dickhead going to see her and i'm a 21 year old girl who went with three other 21 year old girls.

So what i mean is i think she'd be a great headliner. i'm not sure whether i believe she'll be there, but i'm definitely hoping!

That's a fair point. Though it wasn't a resounding success.

"Obviously"? Why doesn't she do that more often/at all?

It would be four nights, and her people could have arranged those Dublin shows for a few days later so I don't think she'll play, headlining or not. Singing for over an hour four days consecutively might be swept under the rug for a lot of people here but I think it's enough of a concern, particularly on a huge global platform.

But the people who would go to see a 'celebrity' on the Pyramid strike me as those who would be young enough to already go and see Taylor Swift.

I don't know a single person in a large contingent of Glasto regulars who would go to see a headliner due to celebrity status.

Not even sure what 'celebrity' status she has that warrants a mention over other headliners
