I think The Vaccines could still be the Reading and Leeds special guests. They've just become a bit generic after their first few singles, nearly every one of their songs now uses the same chord sequence. Although I thought that song Melody Calling was good and a bit different.

my best guess is

Foo's

Kanye

Taylor

but i also think that's not right because i can't see them not having at least 1 British headliner, i can't can't think of anyone that fits the bill

Blur are the only ones i can think of and i don't think they'll be doing it

to be honest as long as Bjork is somewhere on the lineup (preferably headlining Other) i'll be happy as a pig in shit

So we are back to the Mac being liars then and its:

Foos - Blur - Fleetwood Mac?!!

I would be happy bunny if that was the case but if the alternatives on other stages are folk like Beck, Chems or Bjork as headliners can see some tough decisions being made lol

The Mac are the Headliner Glastonbury deserves....but not the one it needs right now.

Stone Roses would be great - are they still going?

All has been dark on the Stone Roses front for a while. There where rumours that they had broken up again around May last year but the band and anyone close to them refused to comment, pretty much a mystery what’s happening with them right now.

Could be that they have been working away on new material and they are going to use Glastonbury to launch it!?!?

Oh yeah, that's really likely. I can just see the Eavii booking a band that's notoriously unreliable to headline on the basis of material that hasn't been heard, probably not even recorded, yet.

Well seem as likely as any band at the moment as no one really has a clue.

I'd have said their unreliability had been surpassed since 2012, much more than the Libs for sure. They still sort of 'owe' Glasto a set, and even if they just played the reunion shows of 2013/4 it would go down a storm. Add in a couple of new tracks (unbroadcasted) and everyones happy?

* Bono on the phone to Eavis *

"Look Michael. Do I have to beg you? You know we stuffed it up. I know we stuffed it up. But for the love of God would you please just give us another chance......"

given their current form they'll probably just arrive and stand in front on the pyramid and play all day forcing everyone to watch them

Hmmmm. Happy to debate this with you sometime mate. They didn't stuff it up.

Also, if the highly unlikely event that Nelson shows in a few months and is met with a similar nor'easter the outcome will follow similar path. Disappointment.

I agree. Set list order was questionable but the rain killed it rather than the band.

Put them on the saturday that year, play exactly the same set but finish with new years day and it would be remembered much more fondly.

I reckon it's R&L booking them third down in 2012, banking that they had a lot of hype (when they started) and thought that they'd be the next big band... but it's all smoke and mirrors

Vaccines may have appeared big, but they weren't as big as their slots in 2012/2013.

I'm a bit perplexed at where they are appearing on lineups this year, as I too thought that they would be much higher by now, that latitude one being particularly confusing

I guess the slots they got in 2011/12 must have been based on the fact that they looked like they might go on and headline one day, and festival organisers must have realised that it's not gonna happen

Seeing ur profile pic there reminds me.. .I knows they have called it there 'year off' but I definetly recall Simon Neil saying they might pop up for a few special occasions (not sure of the actual wording) it would be odd timing and u'd have thought they'l do it later. But as we have nothing else to go on...who knows

    • People seem to have got obsessed about 'secret sets' at all festivals this year even when there aren't any spaces other than, in EOTR's case, the usual late Folly sets that 90%+ of the time are from artists who are already playing.
    • To be fair @Superscally barely mentions the running thing. Very quiet about it 😘
    • I guess we'll just have to wait until videos of the shows go up, but the fact that the standing is also greyed out still suggests to me that those sections just sold out out before the others and a blue block just be like 3 tickets left, it's still not concrete proof they never went on sale and if they were never on sale why would they not make it even, if 414 wasn't on sale then you'd think 409 wouldn't be either
    • Selfish, but I've done the 2 days I'm there.. i'll try to do the rest through the day but might get beaten to it as it's editable....    https://clashfinder.com/s/ape2026/
    • I don’t think the festival automatically ‘need’ to have a female headliner if you have strong female headliners on the Other Stage (which I reckon will be Rosalia and Phoebe Bridgers), perhaps a female legend (praying for Annie, will take Cher), and a few female/mix gendered subs on the Pyramid (maybe London Grammar, The xx). From what I’ve seen of Sabrina, her team prioritises the pay day and I think she will be doing Wembley over Glasto weekend.   One thing I’ve noticed is a lot of the suggestions would be first time headliners and I can’t work out when the last time was that the festival had three artists top the bill that hadn’t topped it before? It seems to be something they like to do to make sure they have a ‘safe’ headliner that will land well with the masses. Plenty of names in that hat that could step back up next summer and should/could be about: Billie Eilish, Adele, Foo Fighters, The Cure, Radiohead, U2…hell, if Beyoncé is really planning to release a ‘rock n roll’ album to complete her Renaissance trilogy, Glastonbury would be a great place to ‘kick off’ that campaign for her.   And there’s always the Rihanna rumour. Her husband (I think) said this week she’s in the studio.
