The 1975 are absolutely big enough and would pull a massive crowd. But also Healy’s track record of racism and misogyny stinks to me.

plus I hate their music, but that’s subjective

Would they pull a 'massive' crowd? I genuinely thought you wouldn't be looking at anything huge. An Arctic Monkeys/Kendrick Lamar sized crowd maybe?

99% of the posts are cliquey gibberish by the same 100 or so users but there great genuine sources are on there (who used to be on here)

Indeed they are, and yes they are. There is about 4 on there, maybe 5 I'd almost take as gospel.

It doesn't really matter if they smash it or they're totally abysmal, at least we'll get to find out if they are big enough to headline! 🙂

I think we have now truly entered the stage of good enough rather than big enough.

1975 as a replacement for someone other people wanted more? We in the Reading thread by accident?

Nah it was Fred

I'd genuinely rather watch B*Witched, who were mentioned a couple of pages ago possibly playing, than the 1975 😁

I saw them back in August in Leicester with the misses, good fun for a crack at some cheese.

3 acts 45 minutes each minimum for £25.

Doing the podcast was moronic, but that seemed more like an elaborate bit gone wrong and not a real reflection of his views.

But I'll laugh if The 1975 does get booked, just for all the outrage reactions.

Michael Eavis could hang his washing out for 90 mins and 50,000 people would still turn up to see it.

Probably be more entertaining than 1975 too. 😂

I'm not sure he's got enough material to fill 90 minutes!

Didn’t Matty say earlier this year they were having an “indefinite hiatus”? Not so indefinite then….

To be fair, if I was in a band on hiatus and the opportunity to headline Glastonbury came up, then I'd probably be ringing everyone suggesting now might be a good time to reunite..

Totally agree. I just think it was maybe that comment that made us assume they weren’t part of the conversation this year. Seems like something’s maybe shifted based on the rumours today though

They struggling if all they can come up with is 1975 and sam fender... has it lost its pull for big artists and lower prices?

The headliners don't matter much to me like the festival is so much more but these rumours are very poor and sound desperate

Gonna get interesting when Coachella announces next week cause the bar will be set at a certain level.

Going by the last couple of festivals, Coachella will set the bar for the Glastonbury Other Stage headliners.

Yeah Coachella aren't setting bar for anything except for the prices. That bar went 10 years ago.

I thought they usually announced in January so this would be early for them.

Tells you a lot doesn't it. Didn't sell out weekend 1 I don't believe and you could buy weekend 2 definitely didn't sell out.

Yes Glastonbury has lost its huge act pull generally. They got Coldplay purely because they know the festival and get it over time but I think we are very much going purely into arena territory. Friday this yesr was arena, Friday replacement is arena. Saturday presumably is arena with the eventually probable Sunday headliner the only one that's arena/stadium borderline. Definitely wasn't an act wanted this side of the fallow year as it shows overall weakness.

Going by previous years at Coachella, the bar will be 400 metres away from the stage and you'll be locked in a pen until you finish your $18 Coors Light

I agree... ideally I like to see at least one Pyramid headliner (didn't see any last year) but I often have an even better time with the Avalon or Acoustic headliners as you're closer to the stage.  I dashed round to Neville Staple at Avalon after Elton finished in 2023, and had a much more fun time there at Avalon!  I love to see a Pyramid headliner next year, but in all fairness I can't think of anyone who is touring and available who would be a must-see... still hoping for Pulp, but that's looking unlikely!

To be fair 2023 is the only year I can remember where all 3 headliners were stadium sized. Arena acts headlining Glastonbury is the norm. Eilish, Lamar, The Cure, Killers in 2019, Stormzy, Sheeran in 2017, even Adele and Muse in 2016 were all in the middle of Arena tours.

It does seem inevitable that stadium acts doing it will be very rare in the future. The money on offer elsewhere is too much.

    • The same happened with Dua Lipa in 2022.
    • After reading their statement after the cancellation, I'm sure they'll be back as soon as possible (which, however, might not be 2027).
    • May 1. Cocanha - Flame Folclore 2. Pigeon - Outtanational 3. Genesis Owusu - Redstar Wu and the Worldwide Scourge
    • And how was the sound? We ended up on the left side of the stage (first seating places were behind us), so the view was quite OK, just the sound was terrible (and very quiet). Which is very strange because the sound during Rusowsky was amazing and we had much worse spot (we were sitting on the hill under the big palm, so the view wasn't ideal).   Also, she wasn't like my most anticipated artist of the day and if the cost for a good spot at PinkPantheress is missing Jade's Angel of My Dreams, I'm not willing to pay it.   Yeah, with lineup like this, it's always about setting your priorities.
    • Would love them there but they are that odd situation where they probably aren't well known enough to headline Pyramid but can't see them saying yes to Other Stage.
