Does Wembley even have slots for concerts left? I know they've expanded from where they were but Coldplay have 10 dates there, Oasis have 7, Dua Lipa has 2, Linkin Park could well be popular enough to justify a second date so I feel like it's running out of room.

Although tbf London has a ton of other stadiums to play with.

Not sure tbh. It was August when I was told, so could have easily changed.

I do find it weird though how he's selling stadiums out for fun across the world, then plays a smattering of small London gigs. I suspect it's coming, just a case of when.

This got your hopes up? They sound exactly the same! Like bad Springsteen B-Sides. And I don’t like Springsteen.

I dunno, WOD has some really great tracks. Stuff like In Chains, An Ocean In Between The Waves, ... Wonderful stuff (and very much its own thing). Fender has borrowed the more... straightforward part of that band (and Springsteen).

I actually sounds more like the Killers on their last albums, but without the great hooks.

for coach its gonna have to be 2023 level of bookings to be seen as that. Former headliners sprinkled in there. Rare bookings and then surprises of course. I dont know if anyone has that right now but its all subjective. I am sure if the lineup is great that a lot of people on here will be scratching their heads as to why, when the top lines will have artists they have no clue about. And that shows the difference in who is listening to what. Coachella doesnt give you 80% of the same ol stuff that everyone knows cause thats boring and lazy.  Glasto people want that 80% of known stuff so then they dont have to listen to a lot of new stuff in the lead up.

anyway. Coachella has one glasto headliner at least. And they wont be billed that high either

Doesn’t that just reinforce the point that has been made repeatedly (ie when huge US artists that have little footprint in the UK are championed as headliners and the festival is branded out of touch for not considering them?)…different artists with different pull in different markets…Stadium level (sometimes) locally but playing Webster Hall in NYC. Not at all surprising that he be lower down the bill when that’s the level he’s at in the US, but clearly operating on an entirely different level in UK/EU where he’s headlining major festivals now.

Glasto never fosters the reverse. Also, Coachella had Chappell and glasto wont have her til 2027 at the earliest. Who just championed a  future headliner, not glasto. Its gonna be funny if Fred and Olivia are on both and then its the 3rd and 4th names which make all the difference.

Chappell has a new album out next year by the sounds of it. So it wouldn't be a shock if she showed up.

Sam being in a non headline spot means nothing as Coachella books a lot of crap to headline that won't either. You really need to get over this narrative that Coachella sets the standard for where a band universally can't go lower than. It's really not a case of....they topped it in America so they will here. There are various artists around 24, 23, 19, 16 and 15 that would not headline Glastonbury.

Ive already expressed distaste at the current rumours etc in previous threads (specifically for the Pyramid headliners) but I've just been told by my new manager at work they've booked off Glasto week already for their own holiday and I can't have the whole week off. I was told to 'try for a ticket and we'll see what we can do' - which I will do. Either way I won't be able to be there until probably the Thursday evening assuming I get a ticket as I'll be expected to work. Not sure I'll bother now. Will decide tomorrow before I go to bed. Bit deflated now.... It's a cost Vs benefit exercise for me now with the increasing ticket price and perceived value for money so we shall see.

Not totally about headliners so apologies

No need for apologies, the ticket has to be justified to you. I wouldn't get there at late as Thursday evening myself.

Latest odds suggest Olivia Rodrigo then two from 1975, Fred, Sam, Green Day or Sabrina....

This doesn't even put Green Day in the conversation and it won't be Sabrina.

They are stupid if they didn’t ask The Weeknd. He’s dropping his last album under that name very soon and would absolutely kill a set on the Pyramid. Has 10 years worth of hits that everyone and their mother knows and actually sounds better live. Has mentioned in an interview before how much he would love to headline the festival as well.

But is he actually touring around June? I've not seen any dates for him, is he touring at all.

I'm not saying he shouldn't headline, he's clearly a massive star but I only know one song by him, I'd have to check with my Mother on her familiarity with his catalogue.

His album drops in the next few months a tour won’t be far behind 100%. But Kanye wasn’t touring when he headlined.

The Weeknd just did a one off show in Sao Paolo recently to promote the new record and he’s done the Super Bowl and headlined Coachella out of the tour cycle before too.

It feels like a tap in for him to fill one of the spots and they could take more risks with the other slots.

Spent a solid minute cackling at this, thank you.

Just checked his most recent setlists and I know six songs out of 40(!). Would be a very long two hours.

Go MIA for a week, and come back to The 1975.

Which, for the record, they would knock out of the park. Will say they've put on one of the best live shows I've seen this year, and think they have the tunes to match.

Likewise, Fender will get a big singalong going. Know it is unusual for rock acts to score top-ten singles, but could see People Watching making its way there next weekend.

So, we're leaning The 1975 / Olivia Rodrigo / Sam Fender as final guess before tomorrow then?

Would Glastonbury ever do co-headliners? I know it’s not something they’ve done before but not sure if that’s a hard and fast rule.

Reason I ask is Fender and Fred seem like the perfect size for co-headline slots. I reckon Sam would accept playing slightly earlier in the night if they gave him headliner billing and a full set length.

Something like Fender 8:00pm-9:30pm and Fred 10:30pm-midnight.

He done exactly the same position last time.  There’s also a massive lack of headliners in the pool and he’d headline everywhere else he goes.  Absolutely no reason at all for him to accept that

Was last time not a last minute change from memory? In programme was he due to be mid other and they changed it? Who was due to sub Billie?

It was indeed, due to him blowing up so much.  Like I say, he’s headlining things such as Werchter and he’s not even as big over there, I’d be absolutely amazed if he’s anything but a headliner (if he plays).

I also think with Olivia and The 1975 pretty certain that they’ll want someone more established.

    • Playing a bit of devils, isn't that the case for any act? If you csn get a bigger sub or or 3rd etc the next will play lower. Tbh they would probably be best headlining second so in the kinda in between slot, that would be better. Get GC on second and Avril on main subbing Friday for Blink. But I'd expect it would be Avril sub and GC second another day.
