  1. Stick to Anker power banks and you can't really go wrong. Generally a bit more expensive than the various cheap ones on Amazon, but one of mine is a good 10+ years old and still gong strong. I have a Belkin one as well that seems to be pretty reliable and lasts well, but that was more expensive again. A quick search on Amazon threw up this one, which looks like an updated version of my old Anker...pretty reasonable. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Anker-Portable-PowerCore-High-Speed-Charging/dp/B0BYP4Y1N8/ref=sr_1_3?crid=1B5FF0WMJ9YMQ&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.Y_KWTgqjQIT6f90LLAQu7cLbz-DMhSIjCp0J24Aq8Y7RUSUwd2t_Drj2qicJfLnnqBKVF5UMkD7U4yidCbHuK1yADg2tpke78yTZhjkd9i1GFKA1xoYc6azALGrWhlwjQaYEG4pnHyuhij7CiQ9uGp3OGdB0dW_xsjp3bLKA8g8ycOA7n3fFJj5LurQpYLi2B7u7WWkmlfEhsF5rfqDKyJEhrsbJxjzG6csZzPZx1O8.ZX8bvsYi57BbvyM4P8MCC4tjG3RthQiMYeHtD91T-dA&dib_tag=se&keywords=anker+power+bank&qid=1713193923&sprefix=anker+%2Caps%2C52&sr=8-3
  2. Done and done! Also switched my flight from the Aer Lingus to the Ryanair on Wednesday as the EI one now leaving later than when I booked it last year!
  3. Yeah, he went back to college to do a masters or something (dunno, my other half knows the details better than I do!). Still involved in music though as far as I know, but obviously not with the same level of success Keane subsequently had.
  4. My Keane story is that the guitarist Dominic went to college with my wife (well, think he was doing engineering or something, but he was in Trinity Singers with her). Eventually he got fed up going back and forth between Ireland and England to rehearse. Felt the band weren’t going anywhere, so he quit. They wrote Everybody’s Changing about the whole episode and well, sure the rest is history!
  5. Will do, thanks! Looks like I’ll be spending a lot of time at the park this year!
  6. As first poster drops go, there’s loads I’m looking forward to! The Park in particular has knocked it out of the…er, Park!
  7. Not on the current tour alas. I was sure he’d be there after he announced the gig Glasto week in Athy, but then he added 2 more on the Friday and Saturday which probably rules him out, but you never know! edit: actually, I take that back. He’s added in another date in Ireland. so he’s doing Sunday/Monday/Tuesday the weekend before! Maybe we will see him at the farm on the Sunday!
  8. much as I’d love it, Johnny is playing in Scarborough on the Saturday, so unlikely…technically could do Sunday, but that would 3 straight gigs…
  9. Was fairly sure Johnny Marr would be there after he announced the gig in Athy, but now has dates on the Friday and Saturday back in the UK. Technically available for the Sunday, but that would be 3 in a row which he isn’t doing at the moment. Ah well…
  10. Resale tickets in 2009 were on sale for a good while though. I got one for a straggler in our group who decided last minute to join us in May! They popped up a couple of times after the “sold out” date…
  11. I thought she did a great job at the Olympia. Vocally, probably the closest to Kim (Deal)...though Bossanova & Trompe le Monde aren't exactly Kim-heavy albums. Thought Paz was great, but the whole band sounded fantastic last week and Emma is an excellent addition. Can't wait to see The Breeders this year, haven't seen them since "feile" in the point many moons ago!
  12. Jaysus lads, relax. It’s gonna be brilliant. It always is.
  13. Sprints are fantastic live if you haven’t seen them! Caught them at a couple of Irish festivals and they never disappoint…enjoy!

Jacks only at the back unless you have golden circle is a pain too!

It’s a 20,000 capacity venue (so, think O2 London for comparison). Bigger names tend to sell it out instantly (though Coldplay sold out 4 nights at Croke Park instantly!). Typically there’s no crossover with pyramid headliners (The Cure in 2019 and Arctic Monkeys in 2007 are the only ones I can think of that played Malahide and then topped the bill at Glasto later in the week), but there is no pattern! 😁
  16. Pixies (yet again)…Olympia, Dublin. Bossanova and Trompe le Monde. Always assumed Bossanova was my favourite of the two (it does have hang wire on it!), but hearing Trompe le Monde live for the first time in full was spectacular! Never toured it back in the ‘90’s, but finally got to hear Alec Eiffel live (despite seeing them god knows how many times since they came back). New Kim vocally is closest to Kim Deal yet (though I thought Paz was a great addition to the band). Highly recommended if you get the chance to see them on this run. Would blow a hole in the farm if they turn up! edit: Chattiest Charles ever too, even gave a brief description of each album!
  17. Didn’t see them in 2016, so it’ll be 13 years since I’ve seen them on the pyramid (or anywhere for that matter!), so likely I’ll be there too. Haven’t liked much if anything they’ve released in the interim mind you, so the set would be a different experience for me, but they have always delivered. Who knows, hearing the more recent stuff live might even change my opinion of it!
  18. Would absolutely love to see Sufjan at the farm, but I suspect there is little chance of him playing live this year, certainly not touring (though hopefully he'll make a full recovery and be back out and about after that). Saw him on the Carrie & Lowell tour and he was sublime. Where he might play is the big question. I'd fear he'd end up as something like a Park headliner while indoors is always better for his gigs, especially for the more intimate tracks (headlining Woodsies probably perfect).
  19. I do love Murmur, but favourite R.E.M. album goes to Life's Rich Pageant for me!
  20. Yeah, out with a whimper rather than a bang. Last time I saw them was Rock Werchter in 2008. They were (as usual) bloody marvellous, but I didn't know at the time that it would be the last time I'd get to see them live.
  21. Seen them a good few time too, always great. I was due to see them on the King is Dead tour, but ended up in A&E for the night instead (long story), so I think I'm owed one!
