    2024 New Music

Faith in the next generation fully restored. Seen these lads as support for the Zutons at the weekend in Manchester and I'm already obsessed with them.

  3. What's the average percentage of tickets that go back in the pot most years? Got to be 5-10% surely? Lives and plans change. Some folk get invited to weddings, book holidays instead or maybe even have financial difficulties through possibly losing their jobs. I do think the lineup will have put a lot of people off this time though. The general reaction online has been much more negative than the usual moans you get every year. If you've never been before though there's absolutely no way I'd be throwing it back in the pot. For anyone else there's more of a debate to be had.
  4. I think Justice on WH up against SZA and The National is utter lunacy and the crowds will be insane sadly. Might have been better putting them on the Other Stage in hindsight. LCD Soundsystem have headlined the Other Stage so no reason why Justice couldn't who are equally excellent. Some of the positions on the poster are definitely a bit off this year for me. The Pyramid stage for example will be doable for most acts. Coldplay, Dua Lipa and Shania will get big crowds I'm certain. The rest I reckon could be quieter than normal which is going to make other areas even busier.
  5. What an incredibly stupid and childish post. My favourite artist of all time is Bob Marley. I'm a huge reggae fan. Love Modern stuff too like Chronnix and Protoje. Furthermore Stevie Wonder in 2010 is by far my favourite ever Glasto performance and moment. Sometimes it's best to think before you type utter tosh my friend.
  6. Well that's simply not true. I have been lots of times and fully aware of the amazing donations they make. That's never stopped them putting on incredible line ups though. It seems like the main stages are almost complete too which only a few more to be added. That was why I was questioning where the money has gone.
  7. Think it's probably a combination of it all. Running costs and wages going up as well as fees for bands/artists. I know the ticket price has increased too but judging by that line up announcement it's maybe not increased enough if we are to expect the stellar line ups of the past. Genuinely think we've been spoiled for a long time though. My first Glasto was 2004 which is widely spoken of as one of the best years of all time. I was also at 2010 which was another belter. It will still be the highlight of the year as the place is incredible but it's the first time ever I think that none of the 6 main headliners are really for me.
  8. I'm struggling to see where the money has been spent personally. Coldplay - Said to not get paid very much whenever they play as they are friends of the festival. Their tours make fortunes also so not like they need the extra money at their age. One of a few acts who still make a lot of money from their music too given how many records they sell. SZA - Somebody I wasn't aware even existed a few weeks ago. Even if she's popular with the youth I can't imagine she's asking for huge fees given she's hardly a big name outside of the US. Dua Lipa - I'd hazard a guess at her being the most expensive of the 3 headliners given her universal popularity. It's not music I listen to but I appreciate that anyone who listens to mainstream stuff she's about as big as anyone around right now. A re we seeing the knock on effect of bands and artists now demanding more money to play? Festivals, not just Glasto, as a whole this year look weaker than usual and I have my suspicions that's because the budgets aren't stretching as far as they once did. You only have to look at how much gig tickets have increased over the last 3 years. I think the stellar line ups of the past are going to be very hard to replicate again now sadly.
  9. I don't even think the Friday night is amazing by the festival standards. It's just looks stellar because the other two nights look so so poor. Genuinely not interested in a single Pyramid or Other headline act. Might be the first time ever I wouldn't care about missing any of the 6. Justice on WH to save the weekend for our group but for 360 quid that isn't enough for me. Should have been a fallow year......😂
  10. I don't think there's any doubt at all that SZA was their main choice or even second choice. Genuinely believe they tried for Madonna, Stevie and Bruce and haven't been able to come up with a deal. Justice at West Holts is going to be insanely busy if indeed that's the Sunday clash. I'd advise getting there very early if anyone is planning on going.
  11. The general consensus is it's a poor line up by the festival standards. You're definitely not in the majority I wouldn't have thought. Glasto will always be great though and there's always something worth seeing if you look hard enough at the various stages. Chance to go see someone you don't know much about and then become a huge fan. I have done that lots of times on previous years. It's not a stellar lineup though at all. For 350 bags plus everything else I'd expect better.

    SZA

LCD would be totally wasted on a pyramid crowd, now so more than ever. 2016 was magic up against Coldplay. Not only was it an absolutely unbelievable set but you could move about and dance even near the front where I was.

I know right. Like getting tickets isn't hard enough as it is. Haha. I'm pleased. Plenty of dates for people go see her on tour.
  14. Seen the film (long time ago) and it still didn't compute. hahaha
  15. Not a fan then I take it? hahaha How anyone can Hate 'Take it easy' 'Life in the Fast Lane' or 'Hotel California' I will never know though. Incredible back catalogue of songs they have. The biggest issue they have though is the tribute band 'The Illegal Eagles' are much much better live.
