Reactions to the full lineup

Well they say that Glastonbury is not just about the main stage(s), and that's never more true than this year!

Very underwhelmed with the newly-announced acts for the Pyramid and Other stages (Pulp excepted of course).   Moving to 7 acts per day on the Pyramid (from 8 or even 9 on some days) is cost-cutting extraordinare - coupled with already-known things like no Williams Green (and no obvious replacement).  Then having people like Rick Astley and Sophie Ellis-Bextor on the main stage at Glastonbury - feels like something you'd see at MUCH smaller festivals (and they have all been doing this in a semi-ironic way for many years already).

But on the plus side - look at the DJ lineup on Friday around midnight!  Carl Cox and Faithless in the Glade, Four Tet in Block 9, Annie Mac in San Remo then in Shangri-la, The Blessed Madonna in Block 9 and Shangri-la, Chemical Brothers at Arcadia - just incredible.

Think I'm going to have a couple of nasty clashes (Pulp vs Courteeners; The Hu vs Viagra Boys vs Slowdive) - but then lots of time where I'll be none too fussed about seeing anything in particular, so will get out and have a wander.  Not a bad thing at all...

They are only opening up the stage.

They'll do more of their own songs than Bjorn again did a few years ago!

I feel like a kid that's opened all their Christmas presents. The anticipation is always better than the actual THING. It's definitely not all about the line-up and there's some really big players I'm looking forward to seeing, but the clashes are ... yikes.

Also, where I'm doing IOW and Victorious a lot of my "must see" acts are doubling up. Would have liked a smidge of Tenacious D, Incubus etc, but I know that I'll have a great time no matter what.

I'd personally rather see something fun like Rick Astley or Sophie Ellis-Bextor on the Pyramid than some of the snooze fest, "serious", artists like Robert Plant (who at third down had a TINY crowd) or Rufus Wainwright - who played to next to nobody.

Rick Astley will be hugely popular, not just because of his one hit, but because of the whole 80s retro vibe, and the Rick Rolling meme etc. When Never Gonna Give You Up comes on, it'll be one giant singalong.

Hasn't it always been 7 acts a day? Last 3 years its been 7 acts on Pyramid and 8 on other stage. Dont think that's changed

This is the first year really that we have failed to get tickets when we have tried but the line-up has made things a little easier to be honest. Yes there would have been plenty to keep us occupied and I will miss a few gems but I think it could have been a lot worse. Williams Green going is a proper shame too.

If I were Rick I'd open with NGGYU just to get it out the way early - hoping to essentially just catch that song though so I'll likely show up towards the end of his set and try my luck 😄

I was thinking he might open with it AND close with it 😄

He should just play that 5 times and call it a set.

Seem to remember Shakin' Stevens opening the pyramid in one of the first years I went. They've always sprinkled in acts of that nature.

he showed himself to be such a delusional idiot that day - he had his band set up and was conducting them like he believed he was Bruce leading the E Street Band.

don't think i've ever seen an "artist" with an opinion of themselves so far removed from reality.

and those people dragged along a full size door, painted green, and he didn't play it!

About 25 bands I want to see and a handful of must sees.  It’s a pretty standard year based on my music tastes.  Trying not to compare it to 2022 which was my dream line up.

It will definitely give me more scope to get into the Downlow and try the temple and see more random stuff which was missing from last year when I was too busy with a tight schedule of must sees.

So overall I’m happy, it ticks all the boxes and leaves me plenty of scope for discovering random awesomeness.

The overall experience will be brilliant as always but I do feel everything I want to see in terms of bands has landed in either the same few hour window on Friday afternoon or is a clash with Elton! Will be a good chance to look for other experiences during the daytimes Saturday/Sunday though

Quick flick through the ones I’ve been to on here and it’s always been 8/9 on the Pyramid per day. Quick look at the timings for this year and half hour change around through to Texas, then jumps to an hour hour for Pulp, down to 45 for Royal Blood then back up to an hour for Arctic Monkeys. Maybe me memory’s failing me or it’s happened in years I’ve not been but don’t recall there being an hour between bands on the Pyramid before.

Having one of SEB, Texas, Blondie and Rick Astley would be fair enough - but having all stinks of either a lack of funds or lack of availability to book. It’s always been ‘pop’ but it’s proper Radio 2 this year.

Just seems weak. We say they’re running out of headliners but that’s a poor main stage lineup.

Even before the main drop a lot of the key slots looked like they could have been from 10 years ago (with a couple of them, Arctics and Pheonix, exactly cut and paste from 10 years ago).

Looking at the "big 5" headliners: Arctics, GnR, Elton, Lana, QOTSA, Kelis, Rudimental, Hot Chip, Phoenix, Fever Ray, Fatboy Slim and Alt-J... Obvs there's some huge names and big gets there but it does look like a bit of a 00s fest on those top lines.

Then on the Pyramid: Texas, Pulp, Astley, Blondie, The Chicks and Sophie EB. I'll leave off Yusuf as the legend is bound to be older. Still names like Lil Nas X must bring the average Pyramid stage age down about 25 years. 😄

Not moaning, obviously loads of fresh names to get into all over the place. Just thought it interesting.

Yep - as others have commented Lizzo could easily have held a headline slot and gone a good way to improving this...

It was 7 a day on the Pyramid in 2019 and 2022
