    Avalon 2024

How many sets do we think Frank Turner will end up doing in total? He managed 5 last time he played (in 2019) - Avalon, Strummerville, Greenpeace, BBC Introducing and the Stone Circle - only the first of which was billed when the full lineup initially came out. He's also now going for a world record in May - 15 gigs (in different cities) in 24 hours. I reckon somewhere, there's a man in his early 40s Googling "what's the most anybody has played at Glastonbury in the same year", and thinking about how to beat that....
  2. I’m either going with Friday morning, or it not actually dropping this coming week at all.
  3. Playing a festival in Denmark on the Saturday - so not ruled out based on dates/logistics

    2024 Headliners

I don't think O-Rod is playing, but she also didn't play any other festivals in 2022, except Glastonbury. In fact, of around 100 shows in her career so far, G2022 is the ONLY festival she's ever played. But none of this matters, because SZA is headlining. If you can tell the quality of bookings by the type of people they annoy, Glastonbury 2024 looks set to be an all-timer. Almost by accident (having had 2 headliners pull out), we could be on for: Coldplay - 10th most listened-to act in the world, and a world festival exclusive. Dua Lipa - 8th most listened-to act in the world, and a likely world premiere for most of her upcoming album/set/show. SZA - 13th most listened-to act in the world, and the most streamed album of last year. 2/3 female headliners, plus a female legend. The haters are going to hate it - can't wait for the poster drop...
  5. And the initial PJ rumours were for London on 28th and 29th
  6. Then her website is out of date - announced a show in Bedford yesterday, for Sat 29th

    2024 Headliners

I think I read elsewhere that the TBC (for Saturday 13th July) was Kylie?
  8. Aren't the eFest detectives (and detectives in other parts of the internet) having quite a good year? I don't think there will be much on the initial lineup poster that's a true "didn't see that coming" - not for most on here at least. I feel like everybody who's a possibility has been discussed and is known on here to be in the frame.
  9. Supposed to be a UK exclusive at Bearded Theory (although we know there are ways around that)
  10. Or claim (as has been done many times before) that the Sunday Legend is a fourth headliner. Dua Lipa + Female Legend = 2 female headliners.
  11. Tickets for Adele in Munich average well over €250 - a very small number at the very back around €100, the vast majority of seating around the €300 mark, and floor standing averaging €400. That's ignoring the VIP packages (which exist as well). Across 10 dates of 80k people each, that's a gross of about €200m. Nice work if you can get it.
  12. They are supporting Liam Gallagher on some of his Definitely Maybe run in June, so are definitely around and touring. They actually have more hits than I remember - at least half a dozen I'd be able to hum along to. Classic Avalon-type band for a blast from the past...

    2024 Headliners

I don't disagree on the Glastonbury trajectory - but she is already way beyond Ally Pally level. In 2022, she did 4 massively oversubscribed nights at Brixton - so that was already 2x Ally Pally or 1x O2 capacity-wise right there. And that was before Boygenius, Eras Tour support, multiple Grammy wins, SZA collab, etc. My guess is that if she announced solo dates tomorrow (we can but wish), she wouldn't struggle to shift 50k tickets in London (so 5x Ally Pally, or 2-3x O2).

    2024 Headliners

Think SZA and Doja Cat will be on this list very soon (if not already). The way Lana Del Rey is going, she is probably big enough - if they fancy another try with her. Mitski is heading that way based on streaming numbers - still a way off, but that's exactly the kind of 'bump up' headliner I think they should be doing. Then you have Florence, Lizzo etc - not quite that level. Looking at the list of Spotify most streamed acts (there is a fantastic site here for the data nerds BTW - https://kworb.net/spotify/artists.html) - there aren't many you could add. Ariana Grande, Nicki Minaj, Selena Gomez, Katy Perry, Halsey, Miley Cyrus - but all are either non-touring, or not quite the level - it's hard to see many of those being realistic Pyramid headliners (even if a few do have history with the festival). The other one is Phoebe Bridgers - who now has multiple grammys, collaborations coming out of her ears, and successful albums both solo and part of a group. Assuming her next solo album goes quite big, I can well see them bumping her up - again, exactly the sort of thing they should be doing IMO.
  15. I would agree, if it weren't for the fact that the "leaked" sentence clearly seemed to be the last sentence of a press release - kind of "notes to editors" at the bottom - rather than the headline of the release. So I read that as a release announcing somebody else, with "notes" at the bottom which talk about other headliners and allude to Dua. My guess on the "somebody else" is Stevie Wonder or a smaller stage headliner, given the groan-fest that would greet a standalone Coldplay announcement.
