That is interesting. They are shaking things up a bit this year- 2 of my friends who've worked there for years haven't been asked back. Some roles are being outsourced, lets hope this doesn't happen to recycling!

Security do this- albeit it seems less than they used to. I've seen people nabbed this way. Mind you, if you're a fast runner you can just run the gate- heard security radio chatter about this happening. Guy was all in black and legged it so fast he got lost in the crowd, I doubt they even got him..

Shangri-la was great fun pre-fest especially last year! Tuesday (I think?) had a really fun Balkan jazz band on when we went and it was bouncing! Maceos is a victim of its own success sometimes..

T&C are notoriously fussy. The other year we were with friends with T&C laminates and we had paper T&C bands and the were _still_ sketchy about letting us in.. 'you'll have to keep on eye on them' (to the laminate wearers). Quite what they expected us to do I have no idea

Aha, always more layers! Some of my friends work for Fiona's boss so I know things don't always work that way if you've got connections! Word on the street is they are changing a lot this year and cutting back some of these routes in so time will tell!

It should be clear- you'll get emails from Fiona if you are direct or from the charity if its a charity place...

No- the charity I volunteer for gives all the deposit back minus an admin fee- the festival donates the ticket fee to them I believe. This year is the same as previous- a charity trying to charge volunteers the full ticket cost seems v wrong....

Nope- as litter pickers we were told to bin them. Impossible to recycle as a composite mess of things.

Honestly, the amount of these I picked up as a litter picker that year was obscene- what a ridiculous waste of resources. I didn't even know what they were till afterwards...

At Lokkaido on Sensation Seekers'. Wearing santa hats and claws they gave out for the show. All of this seemed perfectly normal at the time..

The whole setting is what makes Glastonbury interesting. Without the art, circus, performance etc it would be nothing more than a big outdoor gig. I that were the case I probably wouldn't bother.
