Could Nine Inch Nails do the Legend's Slot - they're big enough and have lots of well known songs.

They're certainly more legendary than Roxy Music.

Yes! The security choreographed dance to I want to fuck you like an animal is prime BBC material. It will be lovely in the montage.

I think you’re expecting a very high standard of info from a rumour board. I’m not a massive fan of them either, but I can admit that they look a hella lot more likely than some of the headliners I would prefer.

Not really, I see it for what it is. But you’re projecting a very high level of certainty from a rumour board.

I'm gonna say it. I wouldn't mind a fully up-for-it, no-sulking-Keadis, reduced-number-of-noodly-jam-session-between-tracks, nothing-but-hits, Chili Peppers headline set. There.

I'd say that them meeting the above criteria is as likely as them actually headlining but those are my terms.

Their live show wouldn't work in broad daylight.

Unlikely but they would make a very strong Other headliner though.

Agree completely!

I’d love to see Nine Inch Nails at Glastonbury. Wanted to see them at their Eden Sessions but logistics of getting to Cornwall didn’t work out.

ELO were musically one of the best bands I've seen at Glastonbury and like a 4th headliner for me on a weekend where I loved all three main headliners (my one and only clean sweep). But atmosphere wise it was nothing compared to Lionel/Kylie type Legend Slot acts.

Agreed. To be fair, although the atmosphere was a bit flat, it's probably the only set that I've seen at Glastonbury where I sang every word to every song (don't judge me 😉.) I was half-cut and had a great afternoon!! 😄

I enjoyed it too, not the best, but far from  the worst in that slot

I think Day 5 in horrific mud exhaustion for the crowd and lack of stage banter from Jeff conspired to make it a let down atmosphere wise. Musically it was absolutely flawless, but I can't help thinking that had we had 5 days of sunshine and Jeff bought into what the legend slot was all about then it could have been a lot different!

Same, loved loved loved them as a teenager so it would be nice to tick them off, as I probably wouldn't go and see them these days outside of a festival.

They've given people enough reasons to knock them over the years but if they're in the mood, they've got plenty enough great tunes to pull off a memorable headline show

Hiya!

Stop being fucking ridiculous. Sweet Child and November Rain may be cheesy but come on, Nightrain, Mr Brownstone, It's So Easy, Out Ta Get Me....

Everyone on this thread is actually so self righteous, the attitude to a suggestion I make (which I have said several times I actually don’t think is that likely) seems from peoples tone to be taken as a personal affront. I’m still yet to see a strong coherent argument as to why they couldn’t do it, until someone does stop being so fucking high and mighty. Chill

I'm quite happy for them to play the Legends slot, they won't but crack on. My response was as someone 'from that scene' who is more than happy to say GnR are my favourite band (of the genre) and no-one has laughed at me yet. I'm still trying to figure out what makes them cheesy.

    • OK, never mind, I'll take normal Nine Inch Nails.
    • Probably my least favourite of the five editions I've been to, but still plenty good enough for me to go again. Weirdly, I was just totally running out of stamina a lot earlier into the night than I remember happening in the past. I feel like I missed a lot of the weirder sets on the smaller stages as I was just totally cooked. Not Primavera's fault, obviously. Maybe I'm just getting old - or maybe I need to pace my drinking better...   Anyway - is David Byrne a realistic get for next year? Certainly hoping so.
    • watching clips of the cure in Barcelona, wow 2 hours 25 minute set. That's gonna be tough on the Sunday but can't bloody wait for it
