Get over it, not happening. I will laugh so hard when the first headliner announcement is for Sunday and some  wild theory that its gonna be a co headline bit and she will swoop in. Stop your straw clutching. Ya'll lost for 2023 cause she decided to take the fucking money.

It’s fine, we’re getting Peter Kay supported by some Korean no marks…

I thought people were talking JP headliner.

Ah right - agreed. They'd be mad to accept that, would heavily damage their stock which seems to be doing very well right now vs the obvious comparison of Kasabian who dropped down a lot

What do you mean get over it?

I haven’t said I wanted her, I’m just joining in the casual chat about her tour next year?

I don’t even like Taylor. Never been a fan and I don’t even know a single word from her songs. More a Ye/Drake fan…

sorry fella for joining in the groups convo. GG miserable prick

You’ve really perfected the fucking annoying passive aggressive thing haven’t you 😬

NME do it a lot. Always push who they think is gonna be the next big indie darling in the hopes they're right.

Palma violets spring to mind who for about a month were pushed as the next libertines then disappeared.

Maybe they do but is anyone listening? When I was young the likes of the NME, Melody Maker, Select, Q etc used to wield a lot of power. But not anymore, most of them are gone and hardly anybody reads those that are left.

Foo Fighters were on the table a little while ago. Rock Werchter and Pinkpop. Not sure it will happen, but we will know soon enough.

Interesting post on the Werchter thread. I do think Foo Fighters will headline again whenever they're back touring, though I didn't expect it to be as soon as next summer.

Indeed. It'll be their declining popularity that does for them.

They’re absolutely more popular than they were in 2020, which definitely did see a decline for them. Being Funny in a Foreign Language and its singles are doing far, far better numbers than Notes did.

i am genuinely curious how often the sun gets it right vs gets it wrong, has anyone ever made a list of all of the acts they have claimed would headline glasto vs the acts that actually ended up headlining?

That would involve giving a shit what the S*n said. So no.

2020: (non headliners) tlc, pet shop boys, crowded house. Correct.

2019: killers correct

The cure correct

Madonna wrong (but this was June 2018)

2017:

Ed sheeran correct (day wrong) first claimed July 2016

Foo fighters correct (day wrong)

2015:  the who and Paul weller correct

There's probably more I've missed. This is the first year they've truly gone and thrown everything at the wall from what I can find but I didn't look very deeply.

Disagree, I think we won. Absolutely can’t stand her, she’s not a Glastonbury artist if she’s more worried about the money anyway. Although I bet it’s great seeing her knowing that she only wants the pay out of it so have fun with that 🙄

Clearly not given she was booked to play 2020

Like what? I probably have but like what?

Off the top of my head - both Kendrick and the Foo Fighters, for years that they didn't play.

Foo Fighters especially was a glaring error - they kept insisted that they were headlining 2016 for months after it was clear to everyone that it wasn't going to happen that year.

    • A question has crossed my (questionable) mind;   Has the size of the Green Fields remained the same as other areas have expanded / been added on to, since say, 2014 (the last time that I attended)? Are they 'lost' within, or well attended?    That's actually two questions. The second one just slipped in at the end by taking advantage of my lack of means to stop it.
    • I'd say the same about Kylie.    Annie would be awesome, Duran not so much, and on the issue of them wanting a beanie slot, that probably rules out a fair few others who I think would fit the bill very well... and are legitimately more entitled to a headline, and/or too expensive.   Was just about to suggest Chaka Khan, but see @Gnomicide has beat me to it!    What about someone like Bryan Ferry?
    • It's certainly gone more that way, but then they went completely in the opposite direction and had Cat Stevens.
    • Chaka can, or Chaka can't?
