squirrelarmy
Random late night drunken video conversations has prompted this thread. Who is the most famous local band/artist from the area where you live? If they have the same local postcode starting letters then they count as your local band. For example as a Leeds lad in the LS postcode, the best artists my city has produced are: Chumbawumba, Kaiser Chiefs, Pigeon Detectives, Mik Artistik and a Spice Girl. Can you guys do better? westholtschic
We had a few members of Wishbone Ash from Torbay but the biggest ones are Muse from Teignmouth.

John the Moth
Led Zeppelin - well not technically but I was born in the same hospital as Robert Plant (and Phil Lynott). I guess the technically correct answer has to be Judas Priest. Edited September 5, 2020 by John the Moth
Zoo Music Girl
I'm from Chelmsford, which I'm not sure has one, but Braintree just up the road so always claim Prodigy as mine a bit. And also bits of Blur for Colchester.
Hugh Jass
I’m from Birmingham so there’s quite a bit to choose from. Jeff Lynne (ELO) is from the same part of Brum as me (Shard End). Ocean Colour Scene were the big local heroes as I was growing up in the 90’s and theirs was the first gig I went to aged 14. One of the Taylors from Duran Duran lived in the same street as my Nan. vintagelaureate
The biggest local band would be The Beatles, but there are loads more: The La's, Echo and the Bunnymen, Elvis Costello, The Farm, The Lightening Seeds, Dead or Alive, Frankie Goes to Hollywood, The Teardrop Explodes and more. Then you have others like Cast, The Zutons, Circa Waves, The Wombats, Miles Kane etc. And new ones coming through like The Mysterines and Red Rum Club. Spoilt for musical choice! 1
SwedgeAntilles
If we're doing hometown rather than where we are currently I'll claim; Belle & Sebastian CHVRCHES Teenage Fanclub Mogwai
zeppelin
I went to school with Sigala, but The Darkness are probably the most well known from around me (albeit not that close at all). I guess Let's Eat Grandma are a Norwich band but I could never get into them.
