The best trolley

I'm looking at buying a trolley to help with lugging all our stuff from the car park - it's only our second time and our first year was up at Worthy View (on a side note i would never stay up there again!).

Which one of the two trolleys would people recommend? The four wheeler would be a bit of a bugger to get into the car (or do people build these when they arrive in the car parks?). The two wheeler I'd imagine is a struggle to keep upright over rough terrain especially if its loaded up with crates of beer.

Are we better carrying our stuff and doing a couple of trips? 

Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Wouldn't touch the fold up 2 wheelers,the amount you see broken and dumped each year is crazy,some don't even make it past car parks. The 4wheel is better option as sturdier,I have one of these and the only problem I had was where handle bar joined the wheels(flimsy bolt but easy to replace) I also have a rolson upright sack truck(eBay for about £20) which I use when going solo.

It kinda depends how many people are using it.

Also I load both mine up at home,saves faffing when get there plus if it rains it could be nightmare. I suppose it depends on your car size,fortunately I can fit them both fully loaded on back of my truck

Fully load your mates trolley and walk behind criticising how they're doing it. A clip board in hand keeping a score would be a nice touch. ?

I've got one like the green 4 wheeler. Absolutely brilliant and transforms the lugging from car to camp.

We transport it inside out on its side and load it when we park up. Use straps for heavy loads since bungees can be too elastic - they are great for bundling things but pants for load bearing - which is what you need going over bumpy terrain.

We tend to send two of us off with tents to secure the site we like and then two of us trundle slowly in, with the odd beer or two on the way.

Ive been using this method since 2011 ... the slaloms are a bit of a pain but its got good ground clearance and inflatable tyres which are needed ... drive to the carparks and pull / cycle it in from there dependant on how busy it is ... only 1 year did we struggle and that was when they had put loads of wood chip down early and it just clogged up the brakes / wheels ... not totally failsafe but its the best method we have found

1 tip I'd recommend is whatever trolley you decide on,get yourself a little container(i use a gv tin) and put spare bolts,nuts,split pins,R pins,puncture kit,washers in (whatever parts for your trolley) Fingers crossed you'll never need it but you'd be screwed without it

in all seriousness,  I had the wagon type trolley last year and it fell apart on the way out of the festival. you can get different brands that all look similar so do a load of research on the brand. i had a great one 2016 and it got stolen ,

Wish I had done this at Standon this year! All I needed was a split pin after one of mine disappeared.

Tbh it's one of those things you don't think about till it's too late,I never did till 20 odd years ago when a split pin on the wheel went,think it actually got shaken out,luckily I had a screwdriver to wedge in hole that lasted (just about) to car. Touch wood you'll never need it handy just in case

I had a 4 wheel trolley for 2016 - first time with a trolley, had done my research and selected one appropriate for the terrain - inflatable tyres and the like.

But 2016 was too much even for that trolley. The strip of metal connecting the pulley section to the base of the trolley snapped clean off. No fixing that.

It happened about half way back to the car on the Monday and nearly broke us.

I've got one of those 2 wheel ones, bought off here. It's really good, nice and sturdy, but as with just about every other type, struggled through the really thick 2016 mud. All other festivals though, it's been great.

We have 2 of the 2 wheel one, bought from here, I have some pipe insulation around the handle for extra comfort and sturdy ratchet, jobs a goodun, made it through 4 yrs of festival abuse and still going strong.

....And yes I always carry an emergency repair kit, however touch wood, never been required

However may upgrade to a Juggernaut Carp Fishing Barrow, they're almost fetishistic

I used one of these since 2007 bought from B&Q.....other outlets are available.

Seen study service through mud & dust, smooth & rough terrain. A cheap all rounder but the top band on the rubber grips can cut into the back of your hand. To avail this I invert the grips if I need to. 

As other find. The wheels are not puncture proof and bearings can fail, but it's only happened to me once during 10 years of service. For this reason I carry a spare wheel and tools which I leave in the car.

I’m probably alone in this, but I quite enjoy an early (as possible) morning booze run (walk) to the car and back. Breakfast on the way out. Always have snacks left purposely in the car. Sometimes a change of clothes (also means taking even less stuff in). Swap charger pack, if required. Carry out my empty rucksack to bring the booze back in. Clears the hangover. Enjoy chatting to randoms and stewards on the way out and in.

Took a trolley once. Never again. 

Once helped someone else lug their trolley out on a Sunday morning (to make the Monday morning getaway easier). Fucking horrific. Was in such a visibly bad mood I got ignored by @Brave Sir Robin
