The Killers will go down well with the "cancel-kanye-and-book-a-rock-band-like-foo-fighters-brigade".   It's an uninspired booking, sure, but they'll have a huge crowd and will go down will the casual attendee.

They'll probably think they're enjoying themselves too. The ruddy idiots.

I wouldn’t say it’s about being thankful, more “who else could they have got?”. They have a set fee and they can make offers but if The Mac and Macca don’t want to do it then what else can they do?

Upping the fee would set a dangerous precedent and change Glastonbury away from what makes it great into being money and headliner-focussed. Not worth it when we can just go to one of the many other stages.

Could not agree more with this sentiment.

Janet Jackson, Childish Gambino and Liam Gallagher would be a really stong set of subs, and I guess that would leave Chris & The Queens potentially for the Other headline vs. Stormzy?

Feel they'll go for a bigger name and probably a rock band (or at least something more accessible than C&TQ) in that slot, can't see C&TQ fitting. Other sub though I reckon.

The “be thankful” stuff never sat well with me. After a fallow year the fest should have done better, soz.

Yeah, exactly. That is not a world class set of headliners. Might cut it for Latitude, but not Glastonbury.

Yeah, you all know very well, there are only three acts in the world they could've got to headline this year. So stop being wilfully obtuse and get yer tops off for Mr Brightside eh?

Would love to see Chris' and the Queens under Childish' just coz thats an awesome 1 - 2 in terms of stage presence and performance. I still hope for Tame Impala on Friday headliner for Other

If we somehow end up with a line up that I can see Iggy Pop, Childish Gambino and Tame Impala all in the same evening it's a good line up. Especially as seemingly every festival is having an off year this year.

(I'm aware I will probably end up with none of these bands).

Where should I start with The Killers?  Best album? Any famous songs?

I'm a big fan, would be my 9th time seeing them if they headline

My fave album, and general fave among the big fans, is Sam's Town. Then Hot Fuss

Famous songs - Mr Brightside, When You Were Young, All These Things That I've Done, Smile Like You Mean It, Read My Mind, Somebody Told Me, Human, Spaceman, Runaways, The Man

Other/best songs (IMO!) - Bling, This River Is Wild, A Dustland Fairytale

Enjoy x

I know is general consensus around here that there are no headliners available this year but checking Coachella, Primavera Sound, Lollapalooza etc seems like there are plenty of interesting choices. It seems more like Glastonbury not being able to attract them for some reason, probably money.

Hmmm quick go at this:

FRIDAY: Stormzy // Janet Jackson // Iggy Pop

SATURDAY: The Killers // Liam Gallagher // Cardi B

SUNDAY: The Cure // Childish Gambino // Christine & The Queens // Kylie Minogue

Don't think they'll wanna double up on the rap, this way it is spread across the 3 days

I’m not saying they couldn’t have got better artists, just that it’s not as simple as “why couldn’t they have got someone huge, it’s been 2 years”. Smaller, better headliners would be a great move, but then that’s what the other stages provide.

    • Disclosure Day was fun.  It's very Spielberg but probably not an all time classic Spielberg. Nothing particularly original but it's well made, good performances (exceptional performance by Emily Blunt) and for a 2 hour plus blockbuster it flew by. Not everything worked, but I don't want to say why to avoid spoiling. Then again, it's not like there are too many shocks in this film.
    • Do these early birds tickets sell out fast, or is it ok to wait for the w-e ?
    • He's still got the whole festival period on his tour dates list. The 4th is given as the Mac's Record Label showcase, which was separately announced for that date (obviously it's unlikely Mac would be on a different date to his own project)     I had AdP third down on Woods but Lucinda Williams pulling out and her de facto replacement playing a different day mixed things up, coupled with Ty Segall playing Garden solo last year.
