It must have happened a few times in the 80s during the Elvis Costello / Van Morrison years.

Yes - 1989 by the looks of it. Suzanne Vega on Friday, Elvis Costello on Saturday.

The third one gets a bit weirder but was a solo act either way you look at it - on the poster Van Morrison was the other act billed as a headliner but according to the programme played Saturday mid-afternoon, while Fela Kuti was amongst an alphabetical list of other Pyramid acts on the poster but actually closed the stage on the Sunday.

*a major festival that would make headlines not one that happens at the end of my street….

Well damn, sorry if Pitchfork rubbed you the wrong way cause they gave your fave artist one bad review and you dont think what they do for their festival means anything to the landscape.  Theyve been had at least one female headliner since 2015 and had a 50/50 gender split since 2013. Plus a total of 3 occasions of 2 female headliners. So a smaller less meaningful event in your eyes with less resources has been able to do that and Glasto hasnt, so what does that tell you.  But if you need something a bit larger then FYF Fest 2018 had all female headliners. or The Essence Festival which has been around since 1995 and has had all female headliners a few times, but since it caters to african american audiences you probably would not care. But who is counting unless a white festival organizer does it. How about all queer headliners? FYF Fest had that in 2015 until Frank Ocean dropped out.  And have you ever heard of Lilith Fair which was all female artists from top to bottom on their line ups when it was around over 20 years ago? So quit while youre ahead and have respect for the ones that are actually doing it right now and dont have to seek headlines about what theyre doing, they just do it and history will show that they were ahead of everyone else.

This board is weighted almost exclusively towards posters in Europe and, to be frank, festivals like Essense and Lilith Fair and Pitchfork have no impact here culturally, media-wise or otherwise.

Plenty of us are POC and female and queer so maybe dial it down a bit accusing us of "not caring". It's amazing that those festivals have done it for the States and nobody was disputing that but none of them are anything like the size or European standing of something like Glastonbury. Having an all-female headline trio would be monumental in terms of the festival circuit here and showing other events that it's possible nowadays.

How many Lilith Fair songs do you know?

Well damn, sorry if Lilith Fair rubbed you the wrong way cause they gave your fave artist no slot for not being a woman and you dont think what they do for their festival means anything to the landscape.  Theyve been had at least one female headliner since 1950 until the festival ceased to exist 20 years ago (you haven’t heard of it?!) and had a 0/100 gender split since its inception. Plus a total of every occasions of all female headliners. What’s with the aggression in so many of your posts?

I believe they’re American and seem to continuously confuse the dry wit or conflicting opinions with all out attacks on them personally.

Swear most of the posts they kick off about aren’t even dry, they’re just normal posts and then this person will go on some wild rant about America.
