For those of you who love 'Natalie Haynes stands up for the classics' on Radio 4 (I'm sure most of you do), here's her delightful response to some idiot's suggestion that Trump is like a mythical Greek hero

That was great - and i had never heard of this show?! I love her books so thanks so much for bringing this slice of brilliance to my attention.

I’m getting shocked more and more as this goes on how cult like MAGA is becoming.

It’s conditioned belief that

Absolutely everyone is in on something for some reason. Everything is a grand conspiracy with some extremely muddled end goal.

Everything on the news is fake. It’s all staged and part of some grand conspiracy.

Millions of people across the world are somehow part of this grand conspiracy without anything leaking.

I don’t understand how people can fall to these depths. The QAnon maga lot in my family genuinely believe that trump is the only person speaking truth in the whole world and he is being persecuted. They now believe that Fox News has been bought by the grand conspiracy.

Instead of this one person being wrong (trump) absolutely everyone else is “in on it”.

It mostly boils down to incredibly poor education, and it’s no coincidence that the places Trump won this year are amongst the most poorly educated states in America, which is something he has fed off for the last four years as he has acted as their voice despite him not being anything like them and admitting in private that they disgust him.

But also a lot of people just like the excuse to act like their worst selves and have the president encourage it, so go along with all the other bullshit as well.

Its gonna take a LONG time for America to get back on track. Trump has set large portions of it back decades.

I blame the internet.

    • I agree but anyone under Rodrigo would be a sub in reality, that day would sell out in under an hour whoever is subbing, in which case Wolf Alice would make a lot of sense   The more unrealistic part of the scenario at this point is Rodrigo headlining
    • All you can say is...     If he couldn't convince nations that really would've benefitted from the short-term hit of an up-front £50mil payment by this time next year, what hope did he have?   Guess we'll now just have to monitor and see if this could derail Infantino's plans to be re-elected FIFA President next year.
    • Spider-Man: Brand New Day   Highlight was a bloke reacting to the post-credit scene by going "Holy f**k it's Tobey Maguire!" despite the scene having no reference to him at all. Which made my close-to-full screening of the film laugh a lot.   Film was pretty good. It was interesting as much as an exploration of the ramifications of the end of No Way Home and being about isolationism and male loneliness, which I thought it actually did quite well. Though I do ponder if I liked it as much as the other 3 Tom Holland Spider-Man movies. Sadie Sink was good tbf, while I also liked Jon Bernthal as Punisher, enough that I might go watch his Disney+ shows.   Seem to have had a Marvel kick recently having also watched Thunderbolts and Shang-Chi, both of which I thought were pretty good.
    • Wolf Alice won't get headliner for Reading either, they will sub if they play, that is where their level has stopped I feel. Both TFG and Skyvip for the big shows this year was just a stretch too far. Every headliner this year is bigger than them too I'd say.   Agree with Capaldi I don't think Yungblud will be at Reading. I would guess Bludfest 3 or Download.
