Went for a pint yesterday as it was our wedding anniversary.

Pub 1 Details taken before being allowed in, fully zoned areas marked out.

Pub 2 No name taken, some social distancing.

Pub 3 Details taken before being allowed in. Fully booked up indoors. Sat outdoors. Social distancing in place.

Pub 4 Details taken. Social distancing measures in place. Though the one way system to the toilets had you going though a door across a dart board oche !!!

Pub 5 Main room was declared full so went in the back room. Not bothered over details gave them anyway.

Pub 6 Details taken before being allowed in, social distancing measures in place. Sat outside. Measures in place.

Weird times. No social distancing in any of the toilets I went in apart from one pub with the one way system but no limit on numbers.

Walked past the final small bar as it was very busy inside and not socially distanced.

A sixth of a pint in each pub?

Went and had 1 pint in a local. Don't think I've ever just had the one before. Didn't really enjoy it. Pub felt claustrophobic. A lot of people who I could see being turned away from the Turtle Bay opposite walking into this one, walking around and then leaving again. And groups were getting turned away from there every couple of minutes.

They'd take your name and number at the bar when you went to order, and had a distanced queueing system, which was well designed given how small the area is. Haven't been anywhere else to compare it to, although from my seat I could also see a man in Brewdog standing at the door with a clipboard taking names on entry.

Hated paying £14.50 for a pint, a small chardonnay and a biscuit. I'd got used to spending hours in the pub every week for the last decade, and now I'm seeing what I'm saving in my bank account every month (even on 80% furlough pay), it's stark how much I've been giving these places.

This is the thing that will be interesting in the future - how many people change their behavior now.  Such a sudden change will have a huge impact on our economy.  I wonder how many places won't survive.

I had to go into a West End bar once, about a couple of years ago for a family get together. Fortunately a very rich member of the family (on my wife's side)was footing the entire bill for drinks and food for the evening. However, I then had cause to buy my wife a drink separately to this bloke's tab. It was a large gin and tonic and it cost me £28 - for that drink alone. Fuck knows how much that bloke must have had to shell out.

I must admit pre lockdown I never even looked at or took any notice of how much a round cost.

I’ve been to a few pubs since lockdown but only for two or three drinks not a sesh, but I’ve started to pay a lot more attention to the cost.

On Saturday I ordered a double G&T which was £12. I’ve expanded my drinks collection during lockdown and have about 5-6 different gins in the go with each bottle being no more than £25. So basically two doubles would be the price of a bottle.

I always used to spend a fortune on Uber’s as well to get to these places. I do obviously like going out and socialising but in many ways now it just seems like a ridiculous amount of money to be spending.

There is an alternative, if you can suspend your politics!

Venturing out for the first time tomorrow, me and the missus decided to book a week day off and go for a walk around Headingley (Leeds) around 1-2 o'clock in the afternoon and pop in anywhere that looks quiet.

Kinda nervous about it as I've not been anywhere other than the supermarket and my local cornershop since lockdown began.

I figured that a weekday during the day would be a quiet time to pop in somewhere though.

Desperate for a pint...and a tequila strangely.

I also think, as others have said, that I'll find it strange handing over about £15 for a couple of drinks as I'm now used to spending that for the week in the house 🤭

Yorkshiremen have a reputation for being tight with money. It’s not that we don’t like spending it but when we do we want to make sure we get our moneys worth.

Short arms, deep pockets ;)

Two of my mates are the manager and assistant manager in the Head of Steam in Headingley so I can recommend there. I sometimes get a word in on the beer selection as well but normally waste it by requesting all their guest lines have stouts on.

They're accepting walk ins as well which not all placed do at the moment.

I tried booking Head of Steam in advance and they only seem to take bookings on the day. Fine for some of the bigger ones but the original one in Leeds on Mill Hill is tiny. It won’t take long to fill up.

That definitely shouldn't be the case and I know it's not for the Headingley one as I get to hear about the booking system a lot (my housemate is the assistant manager I mentioned). Which one were you trying to book?
