Definitely still feels like 2021 is the year of recovery, and 2022 will be the year of celebration, in terms of the timeline of this disease.

Yes I said this quite a lot at the start of the year and copped loads of criticism for it.

The whole 'roaring 20's' was never going to be a think this year, half of the worlds population are still getting fucked by the virus.

I’ve been saying this since Useless Dowden went off brand and accidentally let it slip. They were trying to keep the morale of the nation up - no one wanted to hear this year would be stop-start in a dark November/December.

The Scottish policy of just posting out appointments (when they don't necessarily know your address) rather than letting people book their own could be turning into a disaster as we move down the ages.

The UK provide us with the vaccines and we manage to cock it up, can't wait for a thumping SNP majority off the back of this.

There is more than just 'gone-away'  at play here.   My sister in law didnt get an invite at all - has lived at her address for over 25 years - she had to phone up.   I got my invite 2 days before my appointment - and some of my contemporaries  had to phone up as the letters were late.      The NHS are doing a great job at getting the vaccines into arms - but govt/scottish office  is rubbish at getting the arms to the vaccination centres.

So, we're expecting third wave, but easing of lockdown is irreversible.

Yeah they still seem to think so ... surely the vaccines lowering transmissibility help .. is it gonna be more of a splash than a wave ?

Question for @Toilet Duck - Mrs Hats had an invite to book her second AZ jab, even though it's only been about 7 weeks, rather than 12.  If she had her second jab early, would that reduce its long term efficacy,  or will things work out about the sam once we're 12 weeks past her first jab date?

In other words, should she try to defer the second dose until June or just go for it?

All the local GPs round here(Midlothian) were putting messages out on Facebook in March saying if you thought you were due a jab get in touch because there were issues with the letters. Shambles.

Looks like we’re either at or fast approaching the false positive baseline.

Or the level we hit when things open up and people become more mobile ... and being squeezed by the vaccines 💉

I'm quite impressed that he managed to dodge a difficult question simply by saying "yes"

Did you catch the smirk after? He knows he got out of that one.

Howdy, here they are doing AZ with a gap of 6-12 weeks as standard. Most of the healthcare workers had a 6 week gap. Infections in healthcare fell through the floor a good while ago, so it looks like it’s working! The antibody responses increase after 6 weeks, the rise after that is nowhere near as steep, so, if it was 4 weeks I’d say hold on, but 7 weeks looks fine.

Not sure if this is nationwide but there is an initiative in my region to vaccinate all homeless persons irrespective of age. They can simply turn up to designated centres and outreach projects and receive the vaccination as long as they are over 18. Apparently a a lot of vaccine suspicion amongst this demographic but seems to be working OK.

    • Absolutely love her record, System. Definitely an album that rewards a bit of commitment.   She's right on my must-see list. Hoping she's in the Walled Garden, as I think her sound might be a bit muddy if she's early-ish in Far Out.   Ben
    • Same here, I kept trying to go on A View From My Seat to see if each block was worth it. So vague!
    • Ok, I’ve had time to process the experience now, so here is my review.   The good Barcelona - what a beautiful place! What lovely people! The city was like another headliner. Stayed in El Poblenou, and the bars, cafes and restaurants were perfect. Avalanches - Absolutely spectacular, euphoric set. Fantastic stage. Possibly enhanced by substances that I timed right, for a change. Added bonus that I don’t really remember the queue. The Cure - I’ve been a fan for 34 years, and never got round to seeing them, so this was a dream come true. The XX - The sound was exceptional. The lights and setlist perfect, giving each member their moment. Was really loud where I was standing (between the front and the sound desk), but i didn’t notice any chatters - even during the quieter moments. Also loved Men I Trust, .bd. , Big Thief, NewDad and Gorillaz. The food within Parc Del Fòrum was also a lot better than I was expecting.   The bad People talking non-stop throughout some of the sets, and shouting to be heard over the music. I had to move 3 times during Wet Leg just to be able to hear the band over the crowd. It’s probably an age thing, but I just don’t understand it. You’ve paid how much to watch these acts, and now you’re standing with your back to the stage, missing the music and ruining the experience for everyone else? Odd behaviour.   The weather apocalypse on Thursday. I genuinely thought I would be able to tough it out. I couldn’t. Left after Geese. The lack of communication from Primavera didn’t help.   Whilst it was lovely to be by the sea, and the sunsets were very pretty, the site is a bit…concrete-y, isn’t it? I kind of longed for some grass and trees. Often found ourselves standing on the steps by the Adidas yard by some bamboo. This was probably a subconscious need for some nature. The fact that some of the nature included cockroaches did not negatively affect the experience.   My daughter, for running away when she saw the drug dogs in the queue on Thursday, meaning that I lost her for the whole evening. She hid her stash under a bench, and it miraculously survived the storms.   Also, can someone explain the point in having a wristband, when you still have to show your ticket every time you enter and leave the site?   Finally, I would like to nominate myself as one of the bad things about this year’s Primabera. I should have done Primavera a lot better. It was my first one, so I’m still learning, but I think I left too early on the Thursday. Left after the Cure on Friday, so I would be full of energy on Saturday, and then barely made it to the end of Gorillaz anyway, meaning I missed Overmono, Skrillex, Skullcrusher, Kneecap, and a few more I would have liked to see.   All in all Amazing lineup. Decent food options. Cupra and Cupra Pulse stages were very impressive. Weather was perfect for 3 out of the 4 days i attended.   It was always likely to be a ‘one and done’ for me, but we had a blast, even if I am starting to get too old for all this.
